Mike,

I don't think it's the upgrade that's to blame. I haven't had the upgrade performed, but for the last couple days have had flakiness from the 911 initialization. Sometimes it works, & sometimes I get the "Not connected, No 911 info available." MJ startup is slower however, & phone service becomes "Ready to call" regardless of the 911 initialization outcome.

Got up this morning and did a re-boot (because I run some video software overnight and always want to start fresh for the day) and my MJ would not start at all. Got the infamous "connect your MJ to a USB hub. Image
Went to MJ site but their fix under "If you get the connect to usb hub" notice , click here. Well, clicking there did nothing (page would not load/work).
Did a restore to a couple days ago and now my MJ is back up and running but still no 911 service.
Guess I will leave things alone since 911 is not a top priority for me.
Also, had installed all the microsoftee critical upgrades on Tuesday and with the restore I did, they now need to be re-installed. I think I will do one at a time seeing as how I use I for only going to the microsoftee upgrade site.... maybe not install them at all, but I guess I need to but one at a time just to see if any of them are causing interference with my MJ.

EDIT: Also noticed that after the restore and when MJ booted up, there was not any forced upgrade made. Sure wish that any "upgrades" could be installed at the owners discretion instead of automatically forced upon you.

Interesting thing about this error. When I went into chat on the MagicJack site, a canned script came up that said I could disregard that message, 911 will work anyway. 911 is not important, because I still have a traditional land line for that. I only get the error when running the MagicJack on my Toshiba Satellite 1805 laptop. When I run it on the 1.7 Gig Celeron box, the machine I first installed MagicJack on, it works normally. Both machines have Windows XP Pro installed, although the Celeron is SP3, the laptop is still SP2 (but totally up to date, it is my understanding that SP3 is simply all the updates through March 2008 slipstreamed into a new install)

One side effect of this error is that no ads appear on the left side of the Softphone screen, so I'm not going to even try and fix it!

I'd try it on the old Pentium III sitting under the desk, but that box is so old that there is no USB jack on it!

You may have seen this...And i seen what your talking about in MJ support chat. My MJ works great but with this new look below, As you see no error and no 911 anything

Image

I am usually silent on the forum and just read but i run my MJ custom configured in Vista with a AT&T cordless 3 phone system. My MJ will blow away a regular phone systems audio no problem and at min 1 ½ times louder and better then a regular phone. Only thing is this new software look. And im a reverse engineer programmer to boot.

Note: I edited this post after talking to MJerks support again. When i explained the new look of my software etc they said your 911 will work fine. The tech asked me to call it LOL...Sooooooooo i dialed 911 and in 2 secs a emergency operator came on and i said sorry dialed wrong number. So this tells me they know whats going on but don't say. They also told me 911 on bottom of softphone will appear in the next 24-48 hours. I had a feeling MJ engineers are doing something. Maybe there re-doing the way the 911 works and you won't need your address showing at the bottom of the softphone anymore. However when this first started i was getting a 911 error at the bottom of the MJ software. Then that turned into the new look MJ software above. However the 911 does work trust me i tried it. So this tells me there changing or upgrading something. I noticed this all early 6/12 around 7:30AM. So again it went from 911 error to new look software with 911 totally removed but 911 working. Thing is my MJ number is next town away with a different area code because MJ does'nt have my area code yet. So now im thinking what 911 operator was this. I think it was the 911 operator for the area code im using. I did'nt have the balls to ask as then it would of not looked like a mistake call. And most important i would'nt use MJ for 911 it's just that it's missing and i want to know why. aka curious as i played with MJ and the Vista OS system alot (32 bit ) and i know what it likes and does'nt like to say. Lets see like they say what happens in 24/48 hrs. We see ppl when 6/15 comes!. I am also in MJ country. I live not to far from them ( The Company ). I would like to hear from anyone that has this new look also without the error at bottom of softphone like my pic shows above.
