I just wanted to put this out there as someone who's had sporadic "issues" with my MagicJack that the big one, namely "please connect to the internet and double-click here (error 3)," was fixed by disabling the Hosts shield in Webroot's SpySweeper, an excellent malware-prevention program that I've been using for some time now. Without disabling the shield, I am unable (after recent MJ updates) to make or receive any calls--I just get a softphone message that I'm "waiting for proxy registration."
Also--am I the only one who has to manually start (by double-clicking the MJ icon) the softphone in order to get MJ to work properly? Just plugging it in doesn't start the softphone for me.
Next experiment: Setting up a Vista task that regularly restarts the MJ. I think that'll will ultimately be beneficial. We'll see.
Thanks to the posters, btw, for all of the good information you've shared.
