Major Memory leak with MJ

Hi,
I've had some problems with my computer after plugging MJ into it. After having it (MJ) run for a little over 24 hours non stop -- my computer would not shut down or reboot. I had to turn it off by disconnecting the power.

I thought to myself -- this thing (MJ) is slowly draining "all" the memory.

So, after restarting the computer (Manually) I did a couple of tests. Here are my results:

I started MJ fresh. Using the Windows Task Manager I was able to monitor the amount of memory it uses.

1. With MJ just sitting in the system tray it starts out by using a little over 1 meg -- within about 5 minutes its up to 13.9 megs and continues to clime -- that's just sitting in the system tray -- no calls either outgoing or incoming.

2. With the gui on screen it then jumps to 21 megs and continues to clime within minutes to 26 megs and still continues to climb without it being used for outgoing calls or incoming calls.

3. If you now make a call it jumps even higher -- when the call is finished a very slight amount of memory about 600K) is released, but that is then taken up within minutes as the memory leak continues to consume your ram memory.

I would guess -- as it did with my system -- if you keep your desktop computer -- or any computer for that matter -- turned on with the MJ plugged in -- it would bring that computer quickly to its knees.

I think this "bug" needs to be fixed if this MJ is going to be at all useful -- otherwise it's not worth the money -- even if it is a small amount of money -- because of the hastles.

BTW: Someone may ask what my system specs are:

HP Athlon 2400+ XP sp2/ 1 gig ram and independent video memory.

Any suggestions from anyone would be grateful. I can't run this MJ for more than 24 hours at a time.

Been watching mine for the last few minutes and it's been sitting at 37 meg... hasn't grown or shrunk. It's been up and running for at least a day now.

At idle and been powered up over 24 hrs, mine is holding at about 37 meg as well. Only when I max the SF window does it climb up to about 16 meg. When making a call, it will go much higher, but come back down after the call is finished.

I'd say you have some other prob with your PC, maybe a virus or something and it's attatched itself to one or more of your files....

I have seen a Trojan do this once before.....either eating up all your memory or using up most of your disk space.

Does it continue to grow indefinitely? Applications may load features dynamically, such as when a call is made, or when the softphone receives instructions to check whether an upgrade is necessary. If it's truly a memory leak, I think you should see it constantly growing to 200meg, and beyond, depending on how much memory you have.

I have seen this climb to over 300 MB. I have pestered MJ and their support repeatedly. THIS IS FIXED BY KILLING THE MAGICJACK.EXE executable, and then restarting it. WTF.
