Wasn't worth it
First off it wasn't 123 like they show on TV. When I finally got it activated the people on the other end couldn't hear me. It was crackling and breaking up so bad I couldn't hold a conversation. So this magicJack isn't as good as they say it is in my opinion and I am sending mine back. If it worked it might be okay but it didn't work for me. Another problem is they lied about paying to return the item, that is a flat out lie don't believe it for a second. I am going to call the attorney general and see if they can do anything about it. I will let you know how I make out.
Sorry to hear about your bad experience.
How many times did you use it before you decided it wasn't worth it? I doubt anyone will have flawless operation every time, particularly as a new installation. Did you go to magicJack's Web site to check to make sure it's install and operating correctly? Also, if you have DSL and you placed your modem next to the computer monitor, I suggest you move the modem away from the monitor. Also, is your computer a newer model with ample resources to maximize performance? I look at it this way, since my phone bill is going to be much less with magicJack, I'm willing to put up with occasional performance problems. In fact, the money I save with magicJack allows me to consider getting a cell phone.

Be sure to send your attorney general a copy of the website's TOS. Regardless of what you saw or thought you saw on a TV commercial, when you logged onto magicjack.com, just as with signing any contract or agreement, they advise you to read their TOS. It clearly states they do not pay for shipping for return or exchange.jmboore wrote:First off it wasn't 123 like they show on TV. If the commercial did state they pay, then you will have to get proof of that for the atty somehow. I seriously doubt you have a foot to stand on in this matter since what is laid out in black and white on the website clearly states they don't pay shipping and you agree with their TOS.
May this be a 'cheap' lesson learned that before you agree or sign your name on anything, you read the fine print and all TOS's before you make any investments.
I've only seen one issue on their website that is misleading and that's where they say they have only 20000 units left, which is the same number each day, just a different date.
sorry to hear that
I have been using my MJ for months (since 01-2008) now and I sent some to friends in foreign counties. Even though it is not a perfect solution (few glitches here and there) It has work for us very well. beats any other phone system out there (price wise). In my experience it is very easy to set up and use. I might not recommend the 5 years prepaid option as we don t know for sure what will happen and maybe other systems come out better. Since you have 1 month to try it before you return it keep it a bit longer and see how it works for you.
1) make sure you use the magic fix that might help
maybe your computer or internet connection is faulty or many program run in the background. check that as well
If you use wifi it s choppy (at least for me)
I have it connected w/ ethernet my conversations are very clear and My computer is 4 years old.
Yes sometime I have a call that I can t hear or they can t hear me I usually reboot the computer it fixes it.
Hope you give it more time
Their customer service is not great and a lot need to improve even technically to make it a perfect phone But for the price It s still a good phone

Check your broadband speed. Also make sure you attach a quality phone. Personally I have not experienced any crackle but have experienced low mic volume. Waiting on an upgrade to fix this issue.
