You buy the magicjack for $39.95 + shipping. This gives you the gizmo and a full years worth of long distance calling within US and Canada.
The only way you will be able to call India free is if you are lucky enough to get a local number for the magicjack, send the magicjack to India and then you can call them for free and they can call you for free.
Keep in mind that you need a PC/Laptop running XP or Vista and a good quality high speed internet access in India to make this happen.

I agree with what Gary said but, if you are not able to get a Macicjack with a local area code, then you could possibly buy two Magicjacks and activate them in the same area code, send one to India and still call each other for free, aside from the cost for the 2 devices. If you call India a lot, the price for two magicjacks might be worth it.
Be sure about good internet service on both sides.

If you're going to have two adapters you might as well use Skype and take advantage of the free Skype to Skype calling anywhere in the world. You will need something like the VoSKY Internet Phone Wizard (which is around $30) to use a regular handset though.lymon wrote:I agree with what Gary said but, if you are not able to get a Macicjack with a local area code, then you could possibly buy two Magicjacks and activate them in the same area code, send one to India and still call each other for free, aside from the cost for the 2 devices.
