how to downgrade magicjack

Post by newmagic »

i am getting "waiting for proxy registration" error. to solve this problem i tried to downgrade the magicjack since upgrade was getting error.

I tried to downgrade the magic jack software from the link
http://67.106.133.212/upgrade/200712210 ... pgrade.exe

but even for this downgrade it complains that "version of OS is not compatible". I have old computer running windows XP so i suspect the computer does not have any service packs either 1 or 2 and thats why it is complaining about OS version.

Does anyone know how can i get the older release of magic jack which came with initial magic jack device and which worked fine.

It seems after december 27 upgrade lot of people are getting "waiting for proxy registration" error. So i was thinking about downgrading magic jack to see if it works. So Does anyone know how can i get the older release of magic jack?

Thanks!

waiting for Proxy - error 3

Post by j1999 »

I am not sure about downgrading but I was getting the waiting for proxy error as well. What I found was that MJ does not like when I VPN to work. When I disconnected the VPN the MJ was ready

Hope this helps - I woudl love to get it working when I am using the vpn

Hmm, that COULD mean it is using your Internet Proxy Settings for your Network connectivity while using the VPN.

Check this:

1. Start / Settings / Control Panel / Internet Options / Connections Tab / LAN Settings Button

2. Look at your Proxy settings -- is "Use a proxy server...." populated?

3. If YES, then you can click "Advanced" button
4. Place MJ IPs in the "Do not use proxy server for addresses beginning with" list, for example: 67.106.133.198; 67.90.152.70 etc.

What does this do? This basically says any traffic to these IPs do NOT go thru the Proxy you have defined and will instead go directly out your Internet connection.

(Many companies setup VPN via their own Proxy servers so even your web browsing from home goes thru THEIR servers while you are "on" the VPN; so instead of your Comcast Cable Internet or your DSL, it goes thru the VPN tunnel thru your Work Office to the Internet.)

Caveats:
1. Make sure you know what your settings were before this change -- I am not responsible for any issues
2. This should work IF your VPN software allows you to connect to network addresses outside the VPN "tunnel" (some do, some don't). Cisco VPN, for example, can do this
3. You need to know what MJ IPs or Subnets to add here; I believe you can find that here: http://www.phoneservicesupport.com/prox ... -t116.html

Hope that helps

My MJ refuses to work unless I am logged on as an Admin in XP.

I get the same exact error when I try as a limited account instead of admin.
