I'm sure you've all heard it before! I've had my jack for about 2 month worked pretty good no prob's. Now about eight days ago a crew of workers showed up & was doing some drainage work around the motel we live in { wireless network }. I had interruption all day my adapter could not find the router we were on but picked up something of address I've never seen. the next day it cleared up { most of the workers were gone also 2 or 3 left }. We couldn't get all the sites in our bookmarks & the jack hasn't worked since. We've tried all the fix it's downloads chatted with you know who for about 3 hrs, the last thing they said was I needed to down grade to sp2 from sp3 & gave me a site to do the down grade, DUH, wouldn't you know it, "the computer says I have the latest update" & we can't down grade. The problem with the jack is this everything works great
except when you dial the number " We get a dial tone it's quiet then we get this dial tone again" when it is doing that it says waiting for proxy regis then comes back " please connect to the internet and double click here " when we do it takes me to the sign in, of course we did & yep that just made it restart, didn't fix it. We are using windows xp home sp3 with mcafee, spybot, windows defender, pc doctor, with mozilla firefox. I'm about resdy to contact PC Magazine & have them do another review on the Jack one that is more truthful. Is there anyone out there to give us a solution for this problem????
PS when my wife calls me from work the service says it is busy or down. This morning I used the free change your number & wouldn't you know it """" It still does NOT work """"
Been working on it for eight days now

Is it possible that your normal router (motel wireless) is down and
you're connecting to the wrong wireless router? Can you ask the motel
the name of the wireless connection that *they* furnish and check
it against the connection you're currently getting? It seems you have
poor connectivity since you're having trouble reaching websites that
you're accustomed to getting. Without a _solid_ connection to the
internet, MJ may not have a chance of working. It's strange that when
you call your MJ number you don't get MJ voicemail. That should
work with your computer disconnected, powered down, or even
stolen. <g>
So I'd suggest 1) get solid internet connection, 2) get MJ to work
on why your voicemail is busted. Kinda sounds like both a MJ
network problem and a connection problem on your end.
go to speedtest.com or dslreports.com and do a speed test and see
if it's adequate?
good luck.

I did the speed test Down load 1448 181 kb/sec upload 473 59.1 kb/sec There is only one router in the area a "little in the country" It is motorola I think it is comporium I tried to assess our voice mail from a cellphone & could not get any messages but it didn't say it was busy or down but the service is still doing it" dial tone silent then tone again " I will try to unload the netgear adapter & reload it & see if that doesn't help.
Thanks for the reply
Any other help would be very helpful

I'm not understanding your wireless setup. Are you subscribing to
a wifi wireless hookup or authorized to use one (comporium?).
Or are you simply connecting to someone's wireless router
that is not secured? If you're authorized to connect, surely
you can find the name of the wireless network?
You said in your original post that you were also having trouble
accessing websites that you'd previously used. Is this resolved?
Inability to access 'some' websites often points to DNS problems
with your ISP. (Domain Name Servers are used to route your
URLs to a given website). If this isn't rock solid, MJ will suffer.

The router is an open, not secured, 5 of us split the bill.I am getting almost all of my sites but this one is really slow.
I can download movies & such. Before I redid my netgear I tried my phone again & now I got " dial tone The numbers I heard them dial then it went back to the dial tone" I just finished unloading netgear & reinstalled it. I just tried the phone again & "tone, dialed numbers, & tone again". I checked my speed again & got Download @ 2017 & up@ 467. I do have a ???? on my netgear smart wizard should the mac addresses be the same or does that matter & if so how do I change them to match. If I remember they used to be the same. In the [about is one] IP is the same in both & in the network part, the mac # is different
Thanks again

Your in a motel and the router is wide open for access? Not good, please
secure the router. It's quite possible that others are horning in for free
access and stealing bandwidth at inopportune times?

Some wireless phones and even wireless keyboards and mouses
can interfere with wifi. Use regular phone and hardwired mouse
keyboard for testing.
Have you tried *both* a phone connected to the MJ *and* using a
mic/headset?
Have you tried carrying the MJ to another PC with broadband for
testing? this would help determine if your PC and its connection
is faulty. Many libraries have internet. Remember, MJ doesn't
really 'install' software, it 'loads' the software each time it's
started.
If you can carry your computer to the gateway that's giving you
wireless access, try plugging it in via cat5?

Just to give an up date I had a few things to do & got a hold of the provider all they said was the router is working & They rebooted the router from there point of origin, I restarted my computer & refreshed my adapter. I did find that the router is not hooked to a computer. Comporium is the cable provider for this town, or area in SC by Charlotte NC. So I would asume that is like regular cable tv & or the local telephone company. I don't have access to another computer until this weekend maybe.
I do have 2 hard drives " I probably should have said " I reformatted this drive all new & still had the same problem then I reformatted the other drive & did this one again thinking maybe something was wrong. my speed is up to 2024 & 475 I'm not to sure what it should read but I can 5 or 6 pages & still download movies & such. I don't know if there is a firewall or something causing the prob but I even turned it off & tried, still the same. I don't have a headset so can't try. What I don't understand is the thing worked with less speed before & all the same programs now I am faster & it doesn't work. I did unplug my telephone & switched to headset " not having one hooked up " & hit dial you can see it is doing the same thing connect to the internet error 3.
I also downloaded the fix it repair tool & when I do, the install, it "says no device found". What's that about is that normal.
Thanks again

Did you enter a valid phone number into the MJ white gui box before pressing
Send?
I don't have a headset connected either, but I entered my cellphone #
into the MJ gui and pressed Send. A few seconds later my cellphone
started ringing, so i suspect a headset would work.
Do you not have a library nearby with free computer access? You could
carry the MJ there and give it a try, if the computer's setup allows
USB access. This could validate the MJ hardware and your MJ
account, leaving your PC and wireless link suspect.
Good luck.
