I have had magicjack for 3 months now only time it had a bad connection when we had a bad storm here. But After that nothing but problems, like bad audio on both sides and hang up when I used the printer at the same time. I am tired of typing the to these techs on that so called text chat trouble shootng on there web site. I have asked for there phone number and they will not give it out.
Now they told me it will not work with SP3 which did when I first got the thing and had no problems with it for the first 3 months. I guess we have to sue the sob's in order to get a new one or refunded. Has anyone else have this problem and bull crap?

I have gone around and around with "DEAD chat" on SP3 - I have been
running it know for 4 months with NO problems -- I did have one
problem and just did a system restore back a few days and all
work just fine again ..
Try asking them there "DEAD" chat people "if you want me to
only hve SP2 in - were am I suppose to get my serc. updates from
They do NOT have a clue whats going on .. when "they" can not
"finger" out what's going on - IT'S ALWAYS YOUR END !
Anyway -- try a system restore back a few days and see if that works ...
Your better off asking your questions on this forum than trying to
chat with "DEAD" chat .. unless you got 1-2 hr's to kill (-

you and me both
I did that and I also did a complete redo on the install for MJ and still get hang ups, low audio on both sides, dropped calls, plus when I use any device using USB ports that's when I get drops and you must plug in M-Jack pop ups.
I just found out that tech support is in another country. If I could talk to them via voice then I bet you India. They need a phone support to tell you the truth and they need to know how to return the garbage and research it alittle bet longer to fix the problems before it hits the market.

It's all about money .. and most new companys do NOT look
forward to - gee we sold 3 mil of these things - can only
support 1 mil.
How many other "things" u got hanging on your USB's ?
I hve several computers and when "DEAD" chat starts up with re-load
etc - I type back - hve tired this one 3 other computers ..
XP SP2 SP3 and Vista .. still the same --
This is the reason why there is no phone support . there on Mars ..
you would think with there LOW rate for calling Japan etc . they would
hve LL support
I love it when they type
"sorry your having this problem"
I always type back ..
Sorry you fell this way . but if MJ was not such junk you would be
outta of job (
I keep my Skype going as a back up .. with both .. even at 45.00 a year
it's still a LOT cheaper than the local .

I have a newer laptop that I bought used after mymotherboard blew up. I was getting choppy sound from the other end of my call on the new laptop. I did not want to chat with the mj support folks, so here is what I did and it made a world of difference.
1. Upgrade the bios,
2. Installed winxp sp3.
3. Reboot and get all of the latest security updates.
4. Install latest sound driver.
5. Install latest Network driver.
6. Format MJ, un plug, wait 30 seconds, plug-in mj and get the latest mj download, reregister.
7. Test and make calls. Still some variation in the call and some small noise but much better, the pc is running much better to.

All I have on my usb ports is a printer, ex-hard drive and MJ.
You thank the guy who started the company would supply thier tech. support with Magicjacks to be able to talk to a real human and not a key board.
I had tried MJ on my laptop and it did the same thing, worked until I used the printer, same way it came up you must plug MJ in, when the printer starts up. Also when I unplug MJ after it crashes and wait upto 2 to 5 min I get the same you must plug in MJ. I know I don't have 2 bad computers. Now all I want is MJ address so I can return this puppy and have them replace it, for I feel Like I got the old monday or friday production reject.

If you Ext HD is only powered via the USB power - then take this off . if it
has a 110 "helper" then you should be ok -- same thing with your printer
if it's powered all by the USB .. these could be draging down your 5 V
to your USB and you will have to go for a ext USB hub [ powered by 110V ]
My wife has everthing USB on her computer and when I tired to plug
MJ into it . said NO WAY .. so started un-pluging stuff - KB - Mouse - printer - Tablet -
Webcam - Then MJ worked ok , easy to drag the 5V dwn on some of these
power supply's for the USB ...
I get chopeee calls - but not to bad - only when I am maxing out out my 3000/1000
band ..
