3 way calling is sweet! Easter egg...found.
Not sure if anyone knows how to initiate this, but its so simple its silly.
Dial two numbers at once. But they need to be in your contacts in order to do this.
Actually, the first one does not have to be, but the second one does. While on the phone, just click on another person, and whamo, 3 way calling.

Actually, I noticed that before. But it doesn't give me a 3-way call. It just lets me put one person on hold and call another person. They don't have to be in my contacts, though.
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO GET A THREE-WAY CALL DOING THIS; TRY THE FOLLOWING=
1. Dial the number while your on the phone with Person #1 (they will hear the touch-tones)
2. Press "send" on your softphone.
This should let you 3way without having to add the person you want to call to your contact list. Of course, you could probably also do this with your call log.
(For those of you who are in the same boat as me, and can't initiate a 3way call with that method will be able to put the first caller on hold and dial another number.)

even easier.
the skin that's included with the latest SJ Labs SoftPhone (v1.65) has a surprise for you all.
the file Skin.skn within the archive .exe file SJphone-1.65.2637.exe has a preview (doesn't seem to be fully finish but most is) that has all the little buttons for hold, converence, transfer, forwarding ... and some other goodies, and... you can actually use it with the magicjack by
renaming your original .skn file ... you can either rename the small.skn ... or the big.skn file to something like orig-small.skn and make a copy of the skin file from the SJ Labs softphone, then rename the copy to the small.skn
EDITED NOTE --- you can use WinRAR to uncompact the SJphone .exe file without installing the SJphone software
then, if your magicjack software is, at the moment, using the big.skn file, when you switch to the small look, using the button on the MJ softphone,
it will snap into the new small skin for you to play with.
I tried to boot into it this way, but when MJ came back up, the two regular skins were back, and the .skn file from SJ Labs was re-written to the original small.skn size and file itself... so if you want to play with it when you boot back the next time, just FIRST switch the file name back to the original, and keep a copy of the SJ Labs play skin.
What's NOT finished in the SJ Labs skin file ... ;
it doesn't seem to have a quit button, or a button to change the size back to the big skin, and there's no "options" button to bring up the config, like when you remove the two .skn files (by renaming BOTH big and small skin files) to not be seen my MJ at all, and restart using the restart option of the advanced menu section.
Doing this, makes the MJ come up without ANY skin, and it's really naked , showing all it's original SJ Labs Softphone options...
So, there's more in there than these skin files are allowing us to see.

I am relatively new to the idea of using a softphone other than the one provided with MagicJack. The only other one I have ever used was Skype, back when it used to be free in the U.S. and Canada, so I am kind of behind the times. Who are SJ Labs? Are they the same ones who make the TigerJet softphone? What's the difference? Does SJ Labs have a website where one may get a download of this new SoftPhone release you are speaking of? While we are on the topic, do you have the website link and instructions for using the TigerJet softphones? I think MagicJack's softphone is featureless, and most of all ugly. I know functionality is more important, but I also appreciate good design and appearance.momo wrote: . . .

(Off topic: my MagicJack folder in path C:\Documents and Settings\Computer Administrator.XPWINDOWS\Application Data\mjusbsp is full of 47 files in 5 folders, some of which have got to be useless junk I may delete. There are several updated and upgrade .exe files which I know can't all be in use, I wish I knew which ones I could clean out, and especially what I must keep. I'll repost in help support forum.)
RE: 3-WAY (conference) CALLING, Original Posters
The magicJack website explains one way of doing it on Incoming calls only, you probably already tried it or you wouldn't be asking for help here. I'll paste it here anyway for anyone who hasn't seen this before.
Have both parties call you.
With one party on the line, and one on hold (using call waiting), simply press ## to start a three-way call.
Press #* to end the three-way call.
To see for yourself just type in a search for 3-Way calling in the magicJack FAQ.
I know most people got magicJack so they can use their own phone, but I have found dialing * and # functions work better if I use my keyboard instead of my phone. It could be that I should get rid of the umpteen foot cord I have plugged into my IBM multiline pre-digital-age office phone (it has touch-tone and CID0, but the movers hid from me all of my short phone cords and simple home telephones. You will probably have better success using tone functions with your telephone than me. When I get calls on my MJ phone, my phone rings one uninterrupted ring until I answer it or voicemail picks up. Their site mentions long cords as possible culprits.
Anyone heard yet about the possibility of Blocking Caller-ID, or CID Privacy - Anonymous calling? Dialing *67 doesn't work for me, the number still appears on the person's phone I'm calling. I tried it using pre-programmed in Contacts, and dialing manually, had no success with either. Other threads said ID Block hack stopped working when MJ network corrected CID spoofing weaknesses. It would be nice to have that feature.
god damn crap, they moved the forum to another site address and they didn't copy over the latest database from here.
I gave an answer with all the info you needed, but they didn't keep the several posts made within the last several hours or so, before the move of the site... and all I posted here and other threads were lost, even PMs sent and received.

Re: SJPhone Skin - Download - UnRAR - Play with & tweak
Did it look something like this?

YOU ARE CORRECT! ... I assumed everyone already knew where the file was, and where to get the softphone so ... here it goes ..
SJ Labs SoftPhone at ... http://www.sjphone.org/softphone/SJphone-1.65.2637.exe
you can either use WinRAR (www.rarlab.com) to uncompress it without first installing it, or just install it, and play with it too, and get the file from the installation folder.
I went the route of un-RARing it.
the file you need to play with for the MagicJack IS located in the folder you mentioned, and has a .skn (dot-skn) extention after the name big or small.
it's in the main first folder of the mjusbsp name. (when you open that folder, that's where it should be, for XP anyway, I don't do Vista)
all the buttons are also shown if you simply rename the small.skn and big.skn files to something like -big.skn or -small.skn, and then use the restart program feature of the menu advanced option... it's just the default skin that comes up, and not very nice looking ... but an options button for configuration is shown that lets you turn off and on some interesting features.
SJ Labs still has some work to do on the final release skin file, but it looks nice so far

I was in the middle of typing a response to you momo, when I clicked 'submit,' I got an error message that session and everything else was invalid. Then everything was moved to the new site, but yours and my post were still in my browsing history, thanks to Maxthon Classic, so I was able to paste them and save them. Don't you hate when you type a response for nothing? Like when my Windows session freezes or power goes out after I get done typing a particularly long letter, email, post, or something without saving it. Grrrr
Thenk you momo!
I can't wait to check it out when I get a few moments.
I found a really awesome totally free archive file opener of all time, opens at least 15 types like ZIP, RAR, JAR, or TAR, and some other ones I rarely see as well. It's totally drag and drop, or right-click simple, feature rich but "not simplistic." It's called ExtractNow, and it is a recipient of positive reviews published on the web. (I know, not impressive sounding, but I have used it since 2004 and think it's totally radical.) It's about 1MB in size, installs itself into Windows Explorer in the context menu, and has a small footprint.
You probably already have your own favorite zip archive compression utility, but it couldn't hurt to read about another one. ExtractNow

that was way cool, i thought it was lost, ... forever lost
too bad you didn't have that for me with the other thread where someone posted their pictures of a different version# 1.0 - and I posted my newer version # 1.3
it was in the rants and rave section (why they originally posted it there, I don't know) I just replied there, with my pictures.
It was a post that their MJ wasn't allowing them to dial out from their regular phone attached to the MJ, and had to dial out from their computer.
so, I suggested for them to try putting the 100 ohm resistor across the jack pins, and see if the same fix for the CID not showing on regular phones with CID... worked for their problem too, ... who knows, maybe it fixes a line resistance matching problem for both troubles.
anywho, I'm going to start a new thread to post the insides of MJ versions, if it's not scanned and posted before.
If the site doesn't still crap-out when I press the Submit button.
It's starting to feel like Submit to a Fxxxing...
EDITed
DOE I was going to attach the pictures to the new thread post, but it seems this new site doesn't have the option to attach pictures. ... and I'm sure not going to start a photobucket account or one similar.
let's see if I can link them from the other forums attach feature ...

Hey, it works ... ADMINS please add the same feature to this site.
http://www.turboimagehost.com/addtoforum.tu
( if anyone can't see the little thumbnail pictures here, you may have your firewall blocking Banner/Skyscraper ads, in you ad blocking settings, or something similar, if you have ZoneAlarm you can change that setting for JUST THIS site, using the site list tab in the privacy settings on the left option section... any other firewall, check your program guide, I have ZoneAlarm, so that's the one I can comment on.)

sorry for the double posting, but I just realized it's not a 100 ohm resistor,... it's a 100,000 ohm resistor, after checking the original thread dealing with it... I had to make sure this post got to the top of the stack, to be sure it would be seen.... Late-nite posting, when tired, did it.
SO.... don't use a 100 ohm, use a 100k ohm
also, the member who I told, about the original posting, as being a 100 ohm... heads up, ! ... I hope you didn't crap out your MJ
I'm wondering why no other techno geek here didn't notice my mistake.
it shows, not to post techno stuff when it's late at night, and you're tired.
