You have a Call Forwarding problem?

Post by mm5000 »

am i the only one where call forward stopped working?

support is a joke via chat. they think running the upgrade is the fix or restarting...
If you don't know, Call forwarding is done via my.magicjack.com to set thier MJ switch.

Support reps don't even know thier own FAQ.
One rep said i had to have my computer on for Call Forwarding to work.

so there is no email or escalation problem to fix a problem that i can find.
I wasted nearly 50 minutes with 2 differ reps. (1st one passed my up the food chain for what that was worth)

I too spent an hour with the chat folks.

I was trying to change my call forwarding from a landline to my cell.

She could not sort it out and said she would have someone get back with me.

They have not but it seems to be working for now.

You're not alone on this problem

I got a Magic Jack (MJ), back in April, and at first it worked well, even the call forwarding, but in a week or so, friends began to tell me they were getting a busy signal when they called and forwarding was on. I tried it and it worked, but only forwarding to certain numbers. This progressively got worse, and I did the tech chat thing with the usual (restart, upgrade, and a few turn off your fire wall, uninstall Nero, etc. Soon I started having call quality problems where the audio was literally broken, on and off every split second). After a few more calls to tech chat, and a few more upgrades and restarts, I finally requested a replacement, and of course, they tried to get me to upgrade and restart, to which I refused to do, since I had done the same thing over and over, and insisted on an exchange for a new MJ. Well I should have kept the first one. Got the second one, and after I had specifically asked, can I keep my same number, and the answer was yes. The new MJ started to make me set up a new number, so I did a tech chat again, and they insisted, "sorry, but this is the way it is", and I insisted, that they find someone who could make it happen, and the very same rep, proceeded to set up my new MJ with my same number. ???
Now call forwarding does not work at all with the new MJ. Callers get "nothing". No ring, No, busy signal, nothing when they try to call. I only got it to work once by forwarding to my At&t cell phone, and using the cell phone to call, to which I got my cellular voicemail, but nothing else from anywhere else works.
It too believe this problem is outside of my PC, and MJ unit as it is supposed to work, and did once work with the PC turned off and MJ unplugged, but I can't seem to get anyone to admit that.
I did a search and found the inventor's email, (or what used to be one). [email protected] and sent an email about the bad customer service, and how I kept getting the runaround. I did get a reply in about a day, not from Dan, but from a "Sr. Tech Support person, who said Dan was traveling, and that he would personally exchange my MJ if it continued to give me problems, but to try, yes, another upgrade, and uninstall and reinstall.
Well, before I got his message, I had already found a "complete" uninstall how to on this forum, which told how to remove all of the registry keys as well. After doing that, and installing, I now have 99% clear calls again, but still no forwarding capabilities. Hopefully, someone will figure that one out.

the untrained people in chat are telling me that Call forwarding is down.
BUT in 12, 24, or 48 hrs I jsut may get an email.
my case number is JD710-K62R9Z.

are these people even native english speakers? one of the 5 people i chat with said they are in Florida... i just found it hard to believe. everything the said that wasn't a cut/paste was very poorly written. (like how i write now)

when call forwarding doesn't work sometimes it helps if you put 1 in front of the number. Try it. (1-XXX-XXX-XXXX)

that won 't work but on my 7th agent in two days we found a fix...

he refreshed my account but i had HIM enter the call forward number and enable it! this saved the changes that the website was not.

i have resigned myself to the fact that sometimes it works and most times call forwarding doesn't work...

Never had a problem with call forwarding.
It seems that it's more reliable then my actual MJ.
