Please Please help with my 911 acceptance.

Post by MysticDream45 »

I have had my MJ now for about two months and I have tried everything under the sun to get MJ to accept my address for an emergency through 911. After filling out the address just as it is posted outside my door and my street name, city and state, I have to wait about 2-3 weeks for a reply and it always comes back with the 911 showing as red with a little message saying the information is not correct and to retry again. I have done this so so many times and I have even argued this out with the darn bot and the bot even submitted my information and it still cames back with the same exact thing. This house and address has been here sense 1942 so it's not like it's a new address and it's not been put in the system or anything yet? I live in the city and I'm just so stunned as to why this part of the service can't seem to get it together? IF ANY ONE at all can help me with this? I would be so so grateful and appreciate any help in solving this matter. It sure would be nice to be able to write the owner or talk to a live person in solving this matter because it's very important to me to get this working because my husband has pretty bad heart trouble and if I'm not home and he has to call 911 and he can't catch his breath to talk? I need 911 to know where the location of the call is coming from as well as our street and address. Everything else is running just fine with my MJ other then MJ seems to be slowing down my computer pretty bad and I have to always do a full shut down often and let my 1000 ram build back up on my pentium 4 computer with a speed of 6mg of high speed service but I can deal with that another time. One thing at a time. Please please help :o)

Please if your husband may need to summons emergency services then please DO NOT depend on MJ. You can purchase "Life Line" regular telephone service, which has a phenomenal reliability rate compared to MJ or any VOIP for that matter, for a reasonable rate (just skip the frills and get basic service).

You may also want to consider one of the press a button for help systems. The monitored professional ones can be pricey but you can get one which simply dials up to four numbers and sends a message for under $100 and has no monitoring fees since it calls the numbers you choose. I gave one of these to my elderly sister and she always wears the little heart activate button around her neck. We test it monthly and they do work!

With all that said the problem with getting 911 information to register can be do to variations of address information. For example (blvd. vs Blvd vs St vs Rd vs Road etc.) So try all the various combinations of possibilities until you find the one which works.

sorry to burst your bubble, regarding those "press a button for help systems" you mentioned ...
they ONLY work IF the person is able to press the button ! ! !

if they have a stroke, or other event that renders them unable to press, ... they simply don't get help.

but, it is better than nothing at all.

the only fool proof "system" is having another healthy HUMAN there with them. :)

I do have the answer to your problem. Contact your 911 center, in the end you may need to actually call them using 911 after you explain what you need. Ask them EXACTLY how your 911 info comes up on their screen, and enter that exact info to MJ. Any little change will cause a problem. My road ends "drive" but that is not how it is listed on the 911 records, or when using Google maps for instance. If I leave the drive off, my road comes up.........

Thanks a million tampaB. I did do as you said and called 911. They told me what it came up as and it was totally different from what we actually thought it was and from what City Hall had told me over the phone last week. I fixed my information and now have to wait it out until 911 grants it. I'm sure this will work. Thanks again for your advice. I like to have all of my MJ working, not just some of it. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has had this problem with submitting the 911 information. It would be nice if MJ did some updating of their FAQ's and added this information for people like me that have been trying to get this taken care of for a couple of months. Not all MJ users know of this unofficial web site. Your right! If you call 911 and explain what your trying to do and what your trying to accomplish? They don't have any problem what so ever helping you and giving you the correct information just incase you do have an emergency. Not everyone can afford to buy the push button emergency service and some of us just have to make due with what we have such as myself. My MJ has been extremely dependable so far and it will be nice to know that we have the sense of security of using it when and if we ever have an emergency. If that day ever comes and it fails? We always have friendly neighbors to go to. Thanks again for your help!
