Magic Jack very echoing

Post by jc2020 »

A friend of mine has a magic jack when ever she plugged it in her pc and tried to use it she is getting a lot of echos from incoming and outgoing calls. I called her and could not even hear anything she was saying very bad. I told her to give me the magic jack i will try it at my house and the jack worked very well , great with no problems . can anyone help with this problem?
thanks

What does she use for a handset? A real phone attached to the MJ's phone jack or a PC headset or PC's builtin speaker & microphone? If you use a real phone or PC headset echo is usually not there. If you use the PC's speaker & microphone setup then there will be a lot of echo. Use either PC headset or a real phone to prevent echo.

Did you try with the jack unplugged or try it while plugged in?

While it was plugged-in. Does it make a difference?

But I also tried on a different computer, on the same network, though, and got the same result. Computer 1 was Vista, computer 2 was XP.

I have had people on the receiving end complain about an echo if I use a headset...not a problem with a handset. I bought a cheap RadioShack cordless phone for $15 that works just fine.
