Sleep Disables Phone
Running MJ on Vista. When the computer is slept (while I sleep) and brought back up the phone is no longer reachable, nor dials out. Pulling the unit from the USB and reinserting it will fix it, but as a daily ritual doesn't fly. Wondering if anyone else have this issue and if there is a possible fix.
On a side note, the caller ID # does not show up on the phone itself. Could this be a problem on my end or is it the same for anyone?

Well then having your MJ running 24/7 is not a option. The physical MagicJack needs the computer resources in order for it to run. When a computer goes on sleep mode then your whole computer..."saves"? on the ram. The computer isnt running at all just the ram is getting power to keep your computer somewhat alive.. So then when you boot back up it restores to what you were doing before..

(Sorry my explanation wasn't that great)

Kumar, thanks for commenting, but I am aware the MJ will not be available when the PC is sleeping, which I am perfectly fine with. The problem I posted was when returning from sleep mode, the MJ dongle does not wake up. When I call the phone, it comes up on the computer fine, but not through the dongle.
I'm going to investigate the above link that is 'not for the faint of heart'. Looks to be my best bet. Something that will basically reset the USB.

Hi,
I was also having this problem. I weighed the options of a buying a powered USB hub, or updating my Vista machine according to the following Microsoft article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928631/en-us
I chose to try the powered USB hub. I picked one up at Mal-Wart 1 week ago for $19.00, and I have not had a problem since.
No more problems with sleep, and no more of the really strange, intermittent problems I was seeing: calls going on hold for no reason, inability to dial out, inability to hear the other caller, etc.
The powered USB seems to have fixed all my issues. Well worth my $19.00

I just want to say thanks mphixson. How in the world did you find this fix? This worked great for me too. Now I can put the computer in sleep mode, voice mail works fine while in sleep, and then when I come out of sleep MJ works perfect. Thanks so much, this is great! So if you are reading this and haven't been able to use sleep without it disabling functions on your computer, go to mphixson's link, but I will agree that it isn't for the faint of heart.mphixson wrote:try searching the forums...
