You posted on January 15th so that would equal around April 15th for number porting. I figure it is going to take more time.

[email protected]

I had a technical problem this weekend so I wrote to this email address, thinking I was writing to Dan, but instead I got to communicate with someone overseas that was not knoweldgeable and only sent canned answers that didn't address my issues.

I reached him at [email protected] and he replied from his [email protected] address - so both work.

OMG, I'm such a dork!! I also thought I was writing to Dan... I asked what the difference was between the hardware shipped before/after March 8th since I just ordered a second MJ.

I was told the new version is "better". When I asked "Better, how?", I was told just "better" and I probably wouldn't notice a difference.

It's all so clear to me now.

So, it appears that many of you have been dealing with this issue for a much longer time than I have.......Just from past experience, we're probably looking at a long time for local numbers right?

I emailed Dan and asked for 7 digit dialing with 1916 (my area code) prepended to any 7 digit call. Took 2 days but I now have 7 digit dialing (which is the norm in my area code). Very nice service. I was impressed.

One question if anyone would answer it for me. I usually use g729a (Voicestick, Callcentric, Vonage) without any issues or problems. Does MJ support g729a if you ask support to implement it for your MJ?

April 16 and no porting...

Does anyone know when this is supposed to be happening? I am really looking forward to keeping my old phone number and porting it over to MJ.

Porting Old Number

Post by BillC »

Does anyone know when this is supposed to be happening? I'M not going to drop landline until I can use old number. Why change phone twice?

Never, first of all this inventor is etting up his own servers that,s why we are getting bad voice quality.when he isdone with the servers setup then he will concentrate to do something ,so for he being failed with even $20.00per services which he started using his own servers. He was good with Level3 servers.Let us see when he can straight up his servers.

I seriously doubt it's a server issue since I've had perfect sound quality since I installed my unit regardless of who I call or who calls me. What is it that I'm doing right and having no problems, but some of you have all these sound issues?

Seems people are quick to jump in and say the prob is with MJ before they take a hard long look into their own equipment as to what the problem is.

MJ phone quality has been better than cell, better than Sunrocket, and believe it or not better than my old land line.

Q4

Post by wgnweb »

you guys will probably laugh at me but I still have Sunrocket AKA:TeleBlend and I have been EXTREMELY happy with it. MagicJack quality is NOT better than Teleblend. With that said I would still convert 100% over to MagicJack if they would just offer number porting. Q4 of 2008, I doubt it, more like Q4 of 2010. I havent used my MagicJack in months because it is pretty much useless to me without number porting.

I agree, without number porting I am unable to use my magicJack as much as I would like. I would not mind paying a fee to port my number, it seems that magicJack could generate some revenue charging to port numbers. I don't think there would be a shortage of requests. Just my 2 cents.

Number porting is everything when it comes to making a full switch to MJ. My Teleblend has been working fine for about a year now. My statement regarding MJ sound quality being better than Teleblend is at least true for me. Maybe it has something to do with my computer or high speed internet connection. Teleblend has been really good. No issues at at, but the MJ is a noticeable tad better for me.

JUST NEED NUMBER PORTING

same here I have had it for 2 mths and wont even plug it in till I can port my # to it and cancel my local service.
it worthless to me without that ability. which we were supposed to have by July, its a much needed feature and the price for porting was quoted to us all at a 10.00 price area , the porting service's i've contacted cost to much per call and i do approx 500 calls in and out a week.

so Please please work on the Porting feature so we can keep our reg phone #s we have had for 10 years, i have over 100 friends that wont buy this just for that one reason.
this lacking feature is costing you way more than you can imagine in sales revenues.

Hi,

I am Marvin and was asked by Dan to address and help out with your
issue. My apology for the inconvenience caused. Number porting is something we will support in the future, but as of right now we do not have a specific launch date for this service. All we can say at this time is that it will be sometime in the beginning of next year. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Marvin

Cool.. thanks, Marvin.. 8) .. :D.. Any other neat toys coming out.. No date is necessary on them but would be cool to know what is coming.. How bout the "follow me" that is on my year old packages???
I'm not talking about the transfer.. Follow me, which can be sent to other phone numbers with simultaneous ring..
