I've had MagicJack for a bit now and it worked great until I added a router to the mix. So I did a little hunting and learned about port forwarding and did what was required which was to open the ports 5060/5070. I did that and yet I'm still struggling with MJ. The problem is when I dial a call, I get no ring, and also when the call is picked up the person on the other line can hear me but not vice versa. They can also seemingly here themselves in the phone when talking to me. Really hope this isn't a new topic...but looking at all the strands I could be wrong so I apologize if I made a new thread for no reason...

I don't think the firewall has anything to do with it. I have no ports opened and mine works fine. The voice connection occurs on a completely different port (not 5060-5070). So, if they can hear you, but you can't hear them, then the connection is getting through.

If you're using an analog phone plugged into the MJ device, I would try the softphone using at least a microphone plugged into your computer. (Be sure to go into "menu" and "switch to..."). You can use 909-390-0003 to test (without bothering people). It's a special number that will echo things back to you.

I would also try is a powered USB hub. A lot of people say a powered hub fixed a variety of problems including what you describe.

I'm not sure why the introduction of a router would cause this. Unless it's coincidence.
