MJ problems with LINKSYS WRT54GS router
It is definitely the router, when I remove it, MJ works fine. What happens is with the router, I can get one or two incoming calls and then all I get is a click and hangup at the other end. Curiously, if I wait a while, I can get a connection but then it dies again. I always can fix it by rebooting MJ, also, entering specific port ranges for forwarding does nothing. Anybody have a fix for this, IS THIS ROUTER INCOMPATIBLE WITH MJ THANKS EVERYONE.
RE Linksys..
The phone attached to MJ for testing right now is a radioshack corded phone. Ok, it seems that when I RESTART MJ all is well...until I take a few calls so I am wondering if it is a MJ problem. But when it works it works great.
RE Linksys
There is no doubt about it when I remove the router, MJ works flawlessly. Perhaps MJ is so demanding packetwise the router cannot handle the traffic.......................
Re: RE Linksys
That's a common router. I'm sure if MJ was too much for it, we would have already heard about it.MattInLA wrote:There is no doubt about it when I remove the router, MJ works flawlessly. Perhaps MJ is so demanding packetwise the router cannot handle the traffic.......................
There were a few reports 3-4 weeks ago of people who's calls terminate after 30 seconds. They seemed to tie it to their routers. They could stop the problem by eliminating the router.
It was a strange problem because it only affected a few people. It could have been specific to a regional MJ proxy. But, one or two flashed their routers to Tomato and said it fixed the problem indicating it was something about the factory firmware (which only affected a few people).

What version is your router and are you accessing thru the wireless? If you are accessing thru the wireless try turning WMM = OFF.MattInLA wrote:It is definitely the router, when I remove it, MJ works fine. Actually even if you are wired try turning off WMM.

No, I am using a wired connection. The weird thing is that if I restart MJ, it works fine again outgoing - but using it incoming ONCE trashes the connection. Get hang up and click. Using TCPVIEW from sysinternals I see the connection being MADE and then it is deleted.

I am willing to bet the farm your tcp connection table is filled.
common problem with stock firmware especially when running torrents.
More specifically, what the link above says:
*get and install DD-WRT firmware
*Under IP Filter Settings change the maximum number of connections to 4096. Change the TCP and UDP timeouts to 120 seconds.
