I just had an interesting report from a caller on a large company VoIP system in another area code. She tried to contact me via my Magic Jack, and kept getting a recording (after she dialed correctly) that she must dial a "1" plus the area code to reach my number.
Finally, she called me on her AT&T cell phone (which worked just fine), and I called her back on her company VOIP office phone number using Magic Jack. Got right through immediately. It was a perfect call--lasted 20 minutes or so.
Before the call I received several calls from POTS phones on my MJ in my area code--all without a hitch
Question: Is this a problem with Magic Jack or is this a problem with the caller's VoIP system, or maybe both??? Is there anything I can do about it from this end?
