Does anyone know what level 3 communications is? I accidentally dialed zero and it said transferring to level 3 communications and some operator came on.

Probably provide some form of backend IP/VOIP/POTS switching for MJ ...snowigloo wrote:Does anyone know what level 3 communications is? I accidentally dialed zero and it said transferring to level 3 communications and some operator came on.
If you use GC to dial "out" and Call one of your GC Contacts it will also say "This call being connected by Level3 Communications" as well.

I wouldn't get to used to that feature....Suppose to be a paid service soon:-(testing123 wrote:Probably provide some form of backend IP/VOIP/POTS switching for MJ ...snowigloo wrote:Does anyone know what level 3 communications is? Re: level 3 communications
I'm not ... I really want a CHEAP VOIP service that is RELIABLE and allows me to make OUTBOUND phone Calls via a Telephone (w/o requiring Web usage) ... i.e., using an ATA.kumar wrote:I wouldn't get to used to that feature....Suppose to be a paid service soon:-(testing123 wrote:Probably provide some form of backend IP/VOIP/POTS switching for MJ ...snowigloo wrote:Does anyone know what level 3 communications is? But you know, even if GC goes paid ... as long as it is reasonable, I'll keep it ... I think it is THAT useful.

I'm really crossing my fingers it doesn't go paid, but it is a useful service so it would really depend on what they plan to charge. I thought I read somewhere they were initially thinking about $9 or 10/month.testing123 wrote:I'm not ... In all honesty, if MJ ever got to be 98-99% reliable AND allowed ATA's, I would be more than willing to pay $9-10/month

That's a great question ... could they "modify" their "contract"/TOS in order to charge additional fees for the ATA service?? And what about those who paid for the initial 2yrs?digitalnomad wrote:Kumar and SpamBox-
What are you basing this info on? Looks like MJ would have to honor any service for the initial $19.95 per year.
Definitely want to see how that plays out.

First off Kumar & I were talking about GC, and how it's currently free in beta but once out of beta they might charge, rumored to be around $9/month
Second, TOS can be pretty much changed at whim. Just requires notification usually, and a period of time so that those users who don't agree, have a chance to get out of it. They have already mentioned that ATAs might be a possibility - and I'm sure they're just sitting down with their accountants trying to figure out just how much to charge for it (weighing in loss of ad revenue)

Based upon Google's history regarding their programs, they have bought several pay-for programs and released them as free programs. They have advertised the GC number as your number for life. From a PR stance I think that if they now said, well, if you really want to keep that number for life it is now going to cost you $10.00 a month it would be a bad move. They have huge revenue centers within the corporation, I could be wrong (it has happened before) but I think they will continue to improve upon the features and performance and if they do ever decide to charge for the service it will be for a high tier product within the CG family, not for your current level of service. As Nixon said to Halderman..."We could do it, but it would be wrong".

How true. And unlike Nixon, they know they would get caught. Dem boys too smart me thinks...in accordance with the prophecy, I thought they were committed to bag the C band for the Auction 73 at $4.6 billion?Gerry_52 wrote:Based upon Google's history regarding their programs, they have bought several pay-for programs and released them as free programs. What happened to dem cats. Just may be no Google wireless network, and they have something else up their Gsleeve, just like they did on Gphone.
Anyway...their game is "free" supported by ads. That may be all they know. So, I concur generally, but don't quote me on dat.

Read the last sentence by Vincent. It sounds like Grandcentral will continue to be free even after beta. Maybe we'll have to view or hear some ads, and/or they'll limit features for free users. I can live with that.
