I just got forced a new UPGRADE 26 Dec 2008

Post by ret27m »

Now this is getting strange, I was on Live Chat this morning from my PC trying to get a concrete reason to the 60 min call termination, The call didnt go well, it was with a person who did not have a good grasp on english and I kept insisting on a reason as to why there was a 60 min time limit on calls. I gave up went to my friends house and logged into live chat from his PC, I posted that log earlier this morning. Just a few min's ago I rebooted my Computer and was forced a new update, HMMM I called my friend and had him do a reboot and guess what....he was forced an update also.

I nor my friend had the time limit imposed on us. This new forced update may have screwed us or it may be the fix alot of people have been hoping for.

It is strange tho that we both were forced an update after pressing live chat for a reason why there is a 60 min time limitation...LOL I hope we didnt JINX ourselves.

PLEASE check and see if a new update is being pushed to everyone...Thanks

Lovelyn: Have you check your softphoen menu if it is set to telephone?
Kokkos: Just checked it says "Switch to Headset"
Lovelyn: Yes, that's it.
Lovelyn: Please leave your magicjack plug in as we do the procedure here in our end.
Lovelyn: We will also check your other magicjack numbers.
Kokkos: Thank you
Lovelyn: One moment please...
Kokkos: OK
Kokkos: Hello?
Lovelyn: Thank you for holding Kokkos. We have done the procedure here in our end. We need to restart your computer to update the changes done on your magicjack's system. Please observe an hour for the full activation of the procedure that we did. Please unplug first your magicjack before you do the restart. Please restart after we end this chat.
Lovelyn: As to the other magicjacks of yours the same activation time applies.
Lovelyn: Is there anything else I may help you with today?

I find this quite interesting of what procedures did they do on their end.
Will post back in an hour on the results.

You can find and post your current version following the following instructions. Did you receive an upgrade on or after Dec. 21, but before today? Your softphone had the phone number in the title bar?

Go to your mjusbsp folder, right click on magicjack.exe, magicjackloader.exe and magicjack.dll files, and choose properties, and "version" tab.

Then follow these instructions to get the version number out of the registry:

I turned off my MJ last night. Restarted it this morning (using the dongle, not the dongleless that I usually do). No upgrade.

The following are my versions. I believe they're the same as they were Dec. 21 after receiving the upgrade.

magicjack.dll - 1.80.466.3
magicjack.exe - 1.80.466.3
magicjackloader.dll - 1.80.4663.3272

Registry - 20081217000002

No Update Here...

Good afternoon.

I'm still running the same version (by the numbers) I've been running since the forced update last Sunday. It's version 1.80.4663.3272.

I did a restart on my magicJack to see if it would upgrade. Nothing.

ret27m, please post the new version numbers after you upgrade. Also, if you don't mind and believe you are able to do so, please consider running the memory dump (see the instructions I posted) to see what your call duration value is set at. The curiosity is killing me.

Thank you.

Lisa :)

sorry this took so long but I'm working with one wing here and there is a GlidePad hooked to the Thin Client T5710 XPe (if that info matters) and here is what I got following ar2008's instuctions. I hope this helps, again my eyes were not lying to me I DEF got an upgrade today and I DEF had the 21 dec upgrade.

magicjack.eve = 1.80.466.3

magicjackloader.exe = 1.80.4663.3272

magicjack.dll = 1.80.466.3

TjVista.dll = 13.2.0.0

I sure hope I didnt jinx myself by doing the live chat today, and my friend DEF got an ugrade also.

PS I wish I had this data written down befor I got that update...
