IE Explorer Favorites added to MJ interface ???

Why has MJ added my IE Explorer Favorites list to its interface? They should have nothing to do with MJ.

MJ uses an imbedded version of IE (or an API to your IE) to display ads. It gets access that way.

It may just be a convenience thing. But, you're right. With MJ's stated goal to rationalize calling patterns and convert the info into targeted ads, I don't like to see them poking around in things too much.

Did you ever try "procmon" to watch what magicJackLoader.exe does? That, combined with looking into your favorites doesn't generate a warm feeling with me.

No, I did not run "procmon". I take your word for it. This latest piece of information plus all of the other comments I have read here and at the other forum leads me to believe that MJ is doing more than just monitoring phone calls. I believe it is a form of adware, at least. That does not bother me much.

I do not have a warm feeling about MJ either. It concerns me that they have my credit card info and my personal information. I am also concerned that MJ could have spyware functions other than Adware such as being a keylogger or trojan.

I am just using it for the occasional call at this point. I may uninstall it and just continue to follow the two forums.

In hindsight, I regret buying the product.

Magichack recently said it is doing nothing like key logging. He's very knowledgeable of the inner workings. You could PM him.

I know a few people worry that it *could* become that. Not just that anything could become that. But, just taking all things together. MJ's business model, the open-ended ToS (which reserves the right to be changed without notice), and Dan's established pattern of 1) over-the-top marketing, and 2) disregard for how his customers are impacted.

I agree with advocates who say *any* software could go malicious. But, I just think MJ is different because of surrounding patterns of behavior. If Dan had conducted the "excessive use" terminations differently (professionally), and the recent call cap, I would be inclined to say that malicious activity would be completely out of character. But, not so much anymore.

Just my opinion. I think it's still a good deal. I'm not worried about these things. But, I'm increasingly seeing the other side.

BTW: If you're still in your 30-day trial, just return it and get your money back.

I am still in my 30 day trial. I usually do not return inexpensive items. I am still intrigued by MJ and wish to follow along somewhat actively. Plus, they already have my credit card info and personal info.

I was hoping to reduce my phone bills. The cell phone and land line add up. I have cancelled my long distance plan on my land line and will use MJ for long distance calls out. Unless I am making a call, I will keep the MJ unplugged for now.

It will be interesting to follow MJ and see how things evolve.

Well, well, well. Now then, I do use Internet Explorer 7.0 in Vista ( and also use Firefox 3.0.5 ), but I have been having problems with some of my favorite sites disappearing from my very well organized folders in my Internet Explorer favorites. And now come to think of it, this behavior did not start happening until I started using MagicJack. I think that something is going on here , but whether it is related to MJ...well I just don't know.
