IPHONE , MJ & SIPHON
Just downloaded SIPHON via cydia on my iphone3g and works sweet with MJ, another option for iphone user. Most important this app is free.
I just got it to work on Siphon.
username is proxyusername.....the Exxxxxxxxxx01
password is the proxyuserpassword long string using caps for the letters
server is the proxyname and I added :5070 after it
advanced settings is where I entered proxyusername again under Auth. Username
I left NAT off
I think I changed the local port to 5070 too.
Hope that helps.

I just installed Siphon on my Ipod touch 2G and I like the fact that it returns error information, unlike Fring. (i.e. you get a PJSIP_EAUTHSTALECOUNT - stale retries exceeded message when SIP authentication fails).
However, even when it connects, the call ends immediately if the ATA is plugged in. When ithe ATA is unplugged, things work great and with the added echo canceller and silence detection (and the fact that you still have a dial keypad after the call starts for dialing extensions, options, etc.) I'm ditching Fring! Ever since I jailbreaked this thing (redSn0w - tethered) this ipod touch 2g has been amazing with all the cool apps available thru Cydia. I'm using it with the $10 inline headphones mic from Philips.
From a cost point though, I'm using my mj with the ATA for home phone use and fonosip.com (a pay as u go 1.9 cents/minute) for mobile/Ipod touch. I pay $15 and it's been like 3 months and my balance is $13.61 so I'm really not a heavy user mobile-wise. But for some people, an extra $46.50 to get a new magicJack (account) could be worth it if you use the phone alot on-the-go.

Attempting to use MJ service from two places at the same time is the surest way to alert MJ that you are in violation of the ToS (that you may only use it from their softphone on the one PC that has their dongle plugged into it) and get your account banned. Always turn off your ATA before you start up Siphon, and vice versa.
As I said, I am using Siphon with another Voip provider, I was only testing it with mj to compare with Fring service. Both work with mj but Siphon is better to use, IMO.
As far as mj banning your account, there has been no mj police or banning reporting that I know of and I thought (from reading the posts here) that any ATA or mobile device that doesn't mimick the dongle and periodically ping back the user agent string is subject to getting caught. If they ever start banning, I would think that this would take precedence.
At any rate, from what I see, the mj server only allows calls via RTP protocol on ports 10000 - 30000 with one device/phone number/account at a time. This is a functionality of the mj voip system.

There is no precedence in whether the "crime" of using your MJ account from two places at once when you are licensed for one or the "crime" of using your MJ account from and unauthorized client gets you caught first.synchron wrote:As far as mj banning your account, there has been no mj police or banning reporting that I know of and I thought (from reading the posts here) that any ATA or mobile device that doesn't mimick the dongle and periodically ping back the user agent string is subject to getting caught. MJ's ToS, just like the ToS of virtually all VoIP providers (Vonage, VoicePulse, BroadVoice, etc.) who offer "unlimited" calling plans, strictly controls what client (only one, the MJ softphone) may be used in conjunction with the service. The advice against using two clients at once is real world advice based upon the active policing of these other providers.
As an adult, you are free to ignore the advice and take your chances. The advice here is your armor, and you are free to wear it in battle or leave it at home.
Take a look at this link, it includes the configuration for MJ by Google siphon.
