ATA Choices - PAP2 v1, Sunrocket Innomedia 6328 or PAP2 v2

I have a PAP2 v1 and an Innomedia 6328. If you had these 2, would you use one of them or buy a PAP2 v2?

I've used them both and they both work well. I prolly wouldn't purchase another one.

I'm using PAP2 v1 right now and, after cross flashed to SPA1001, it can switch between 2 voip lines with one phone....quite happy with it.

I love my SPA2102 from Sunrocket. But, in the end they are all the same. Some PAP don't have 2 ports others do and yada yada... I would use the innomedia cuz they are super easy to set up. There is no unlocking required (if i remember right) and the config is a breeze. Some people will say go with the PAP because its linksys and stuf, but I look at things other then the brand... But that is just my 2 pennys

EDIT: Trying to unlock the PAP2 was a pain in the PAP. I got the Innomedia unlocked just fine thanks to a little help from some older posts of laserjobs on another forum (thanks).

Thanks for all the suggestions and feel free to bring up any other points. I have decided not to spend more money buying a PAP2 v2 based on what you all have said.

However, I am torn between which ATA to use out of the ones I have.

Size - Winner is PAP2 since its about 3/4 the size of the Innomedia. The power brick on the PAP2 is much smaller as well.

Power Consumption - Not quite sure. PAP2 uses 5v vs 12v on the Innomedia. However, Innomedia states 2.28w idle and 3.36w while in use. Somone on another forum reported 5w on the PAP2 v1, but I don't know if that's correction.

Phone Ports - Tied as both have 2

Support - Both have pretty good support out there. Wondering if the Linksys might have better support in the way of firware since its more popular.

Specs - PAP2 v1 has a measly 1mb Flash and 2mb RAM. I suspect the Innomedia has more horsepower, but I couldn't find any details on that specifically.

Some features irrelevant to me. The Innomedia also can act as a router. It also has a reset button that the PAP2 v1 doesn't have.

Has anyone figured out how to add a second line to the InnoMedia 6328re? I've been all over the internet and the closest I come to a second line activation is with ViaTalk, which is only activating some kind of remote for their service, not allowing the line 2 to be used with another MJ line or voip service.
Anybody found this remedy??

It depends on the system. An ATA should give you consistently high quality as it's not a multifunction device like a PC. The ATA is designed for one thing and its hardware is designed with those specs in mind.

A PC can give you perfectly good quality. However you have to keep in mind that your PC is not just serving as a MJ server, but also a host of other functions like the various programs and the operating system. A dedicated PC or thin client will give you great quality if setup correctly.

Basically, here is what you have to consider

An ATA is the best overall solution IMO because of the low power usage and hardware cost. However, it breaks the MJ terms of service which could get your account shut down.

A dedicated PC will take some configuration and will cost more overall with the hardware and power usage (not to mention your time). However, you stay within MJ's terms of service and don't risk getting deactivated for that reason. If you go this route, a HP thin client is low power and has plenty of juice to do what you want. Another nice alternative is a netbook like an EeePC. I've seen these recently for $150 on places like woot.com and various retail stores if you catch the right sale. A netbook is nice because you can take it with you for surfing the web as well as making calls.

So you don't really need all those software updates from MJ? I prefer the ATA route since it's cheaper on electricity and battery backup is lower cost.

Any specific experience on the Sun Rocket SPA2102? I still think you will experice call issues once in awhiel due to MJ.

Is the Innomedia product still a valid option or ATA period? I had one set up last year but it went south. Still have my old Sunrocket Innomedia device that can be used. Are there good instructions anywhere?
