My MJ Is very choppy for others! Sound cuts after 5-7 mins!

Post by DLMark88 »

I just got my MJ in the mail and it was very easy to set up. One thing I noticed is the 24hr confirmation email never arrived yet I can still make phone calls with the MJ. The people on the other end complain its very choppy and I have tried the priority setting. They are outgoing calls, have not tried incoming yet. I have a D-Link router.

What is the most frustrating is after about 5 minutes the call goes completely silent. The connection is still active but both phones lost the ability to send or recieve audio. I am using a headset on the computer with no phone plugged in and was talking with a friend on her cell. 5 times it did this. I then tried my cellphone and determined neither party could hear the other. What is my alternative to sending this thing back?

Mark.

Several of us have had the same problem of the connection just going silent. At least in my case I could not hear the other person but I'm not sure they couldn't hear me (it was my sister who just talks and talks, every once in a while coming up for a breath of air!). This might happen 20-30 min into the call and then come back in about 20-30 seconds. But it hasn't happened in a few weeks. The choppiness could be because of several things: the process priority on your machine, the speed or lack therof of your Internet connection, the jitter in your connection introduced either by your ISP or simply congestion, the congestion of the MJ proxy you are connecting to, etc. Sometimes these things miraculously clear up on their own. Sometimes, if you've tried all the suggestions on this list and in the Wiki, complaining to tech chat causes things to get better. Have you tried the MJ on a different computer or if you have a laptop, at a different location with a different Internet connection to see if that makes a difference?
