Please Help MJ changed my number without my knowledge SOLVED
My number has been changed and tech support say that cannot do anything about it? Is that true? Can I do anything?

Recently this has been reported by 3-4 people. You could try emailing the support manager and/or founder. The contact info is on the wiki FAQ.
If you don't get a satisfactory answer, you can file a complaint with the BBB. MagicJack is on some kind of probationary status with the BBB right now. Their contact info is on the wiki's "MagicJack in practice" section, "cons" subsection. Bottom of the page.

See the MagicJack Wiki (FAQ, How-To, history and more).
I tried with their basic chat support and all the other levels of support but they have told me they cannot do anything. I have to pay $10 o chose another number with my area code. I explained that my contacts already have my phone number and I should not pay anything for having my old number back. But, up to this moment, nothing.
MJ, like any other phone company, has the right to change your phone number against your will in certain circumstances (like, if they accidentally assigned the same number to two customers and determine that the other customer was first). What they do not have the right to do is replace one phone number with a phone number in a different Rate Center. You have the right to receive a new phone number in your originally chosen Rate Center for no service charge.

number change
Read your TOS. That is spelled out that they can change your number when ever they want and as often as they want. That alone has made me reconsider making them my sole telephone service. With all the people who you give your number to for personal and business reasons, it makes it a nightmare to keep changing everyone's database of phone numbers.
It SUCKS BIG TIME!!!

Changing number
Nope! TOS has you by the you know whats. They reserve the right to give you any number they choose, if they so desire. Your only choice, IMHO, is to chose a different VOIP service.omrjln wrote:The thing is; that they changed my number to another with a different area code!!
I have sent certified letters and received the proof of delivery this morning.
I will wait for a week, then file a complaint with the FCC.
Do you guys think that will work?
How many others has this happened to? If it's a lot, then I'm going to leave too and count the $40 as a lesson learned. 'If it seems too good to be true, then..............'

Re: Changing number
So you are saying that any provider can change the subscribers number with no legitimate reason what so ever even after 5 months of service and the client cannot do nothing?tjnamtiw wrote:Nope!
