cannot be heard by called party

Just connected, my MajicJack yesterday, and everything went well enough.
When placing a call, I get my dial tone and the phone rings through, I can hear the recipient of the call, BUT! they CANNOT hear me. I am running VIsta Home Premium 32 bit and a hand set from my fax machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ...

I have found this to be a problem when I use my Wireless card and believe it to be related to the slower speeds of the card. Also on some WiFi systems I've noticed the same problem or delays when the service is less than 200kbs.

The first thing to do is isolate whether it's specific to the USB port, device, and/or handset. Disconnect the handset and try making a call using the softphone and a headset.

Also go into the softphone's "menu->headset/volume control" and make sure the microphone volume is turned up.

Followed your recommendations and also installed a $6.00 handset. Tried it on both my laptops and it ,worked well. Especially well on my Dell 1505. Now have hooked up to my Fujitsu and it works well but volume isn't as good. Haven't really tried tweaking it yet though on this machine. But it works well enough in any case. If you're using a handset, the volume difference could be indicative of USB power differences. If the mic volume is turned up in the menu->headset/volume control, probably the next thing to try is a powered USB hub for that machine. See the wiki FAQ for a hub that is recommended by MJ users.
