VMAIL - Cannot check VMAIL using handset or VMAIL button

Post by mc4sure »

My MJ works great except I cannot check my VMAIL using the connected telephone or by clicking the VMAIL button. I can only check VMAIL by calling in from a third party phone.
I decided to buy another MJ to see if it was a problem with the MJ itself, and have the exact same problem with the new one.
VMAIL button also does not light up when I have a message.

Others have said they had success contacting MJ chat support and asking them to reset their voice mail (whatever that means). If they try to put you through their scripted diagnostic, just ask them to escalate to a supervisor. If they still insist on the scripted diagnostic, just pretend that you're following their instructions, saying "ok, now what?" and continue asking to be escalated. (I.e., there's nothing you can do on your end to change the fact that voice mail on their server doesn't work.).

The vmail button doesn't work for anyone, from what I can tell. I've seen it light up a couple times in eight months. The times it lit up it didn't turn off after I went to voice mail and listened/deleted messages.

Thanks for the info
Unfortunately I have spent 6+ hours chatting. They have tried resetting my voice mail, unplugging, plugging back in, and loading the "upgrade".

Tell them you want it escalated.

vmail

Post by kc8zjy »

I have been trying to resolve the same problem for a week. It worked fine until I changed my number to a local Cincinnati one last Friday... I was told it would be resolved in 24 hrs... then in another 48 hrs... then in another 24 hrs... now they say it has been placed on priority for whatever that's worth. I was very happy with MJ, except for the number being out of area, until I got the in area number... it's a (p i t a  ) having to call vmail with my cellphone... but it's still a good option via wireless laptop.

As it says on the wiki FAQ (concerning how to contact MJ), just keep contacting them every day, asking to be escalated. MJ users report that going through a few chat support "specialists" eventually leads to one who knows how to fix a problem. Or, they see in your record that you're going to cost them a lot of money contacting them every day, so they get serious about fixing it.

Keep the name of who you speak to, and tell them that you feel you have no other choice than to contact the CEO and inform him that [name] told you to contact him. "I mean, I've contacted you people a dozen times and nobody can fix my problem. I'm told 24 hours. I'm told it's priority. But, nothing happens. Aren't you really telling me with your actions that I need to contact the founder? I'm perfectly ok with contacting him and telling him that *you* told me that's what I had to do. Are you ok with that?"

You just have to make yourself the most important problem they have to deal with. It doesn't mean yelling or becoming impatient. Play their game and use it against them.

This doesn't fix the problem, but someone said[1] that adding your number to the contacts list, with "***" at the end of the number will get you into voice mail (when you can't get to it the normal way).

They said it also fixed problems calling other MJ numbers.

Whoa thanks. The last fix works. It doesn't solve it but at least now it is accessible.

Mark, thanks for the *** tip. It works. Like you said, it does not fix the problem, but at least I can check my VMail.

No voicemail access

Post by Healthe »

I'm having the same issue. When I dial my phone number, it hangs up and when I use the VMail button on the softphone, nothing happens. I do receive voicemails in my email though.

I've been through 6 customers reps within the last 3 days. I was on the chat line today for almost 2 hours with no resolution. The last specialist did mention that they were doing some upgrades and that their engineers were working to get them completed as fast as possible. She also mentioned that this was for engineers upgrade and they were working on it now. Patiently waiting...... Not sure if this will correct the problem or not.

Wow, I am not sure if the Steelers winning the Superbowl turned my MJ in the right direction or not, but after 9 days of not working my VMAIL now works as it it supposed to. I can check it using my handset and by using a headset. Now I will cross my fingers and hope it stays working.

Voicemail access

Post by Healthe »

Hi,
Me too! I'm now able to access my voicemail by dialing my phone number. The VMail button is still now working, but maybe that will too eventually. Guess the engineers WERE working on it yesterday! Yeah!
