Multiple MJ's on same computer?

Post by Douggie »

My computer has 4 USB ports. IS it possible to have a working MJ in each port?
If so, will the MJ turn off or become inactive if the system sleeps?

Sorry if this has been discussed. Im sure it has. I did a search and couldnt find it anywhere.

you could I suppose, but why would you want to have four different phone lines on the same computer? From what I have seen the MagicJack quality from the phone call said has a lot to do with your system resources and how speedy your internet connection and PC are. You would kill your internet connection and I am sure the computer wouldn't be too happy either.

Also, if you arn't loged and the HDD isn't running than the magicjack will stop working. I fixed that by making it into a system process in the tack manager. Now, as long as the computer is on and the OS is booting I have phone regardless of what is going on on the computer.

One Personal, One fax and one business. Even when idol they use a lot of resources? I probably get like 10 faxes a month, 5 calls personal and 3 calls business wise a month. I only have DSL at this time. I read somewhere else that it requires alot of upload?

Yeah, I guess it would work for me. Mines on all the time. Come to think of it The thing I was talking about was the monitor power save feature.

The Search button is your friend. Had you used it prior to posting, you would have learned that it is not possible to have more than one MJ on any one PC because it is not possible to have more than one instance of the MJ softphone operating on any single instance of on OS.

Using aftermarket software to force the PC to run slave instances of your OS and tricking each instance to associate with a different MJ on a different USB port notwithstanding, it is not possible.

None needed brother but thanks anyway. I appreciate you time!
I have a hard time with some search engines. Even Youtube will give me like 10 returns on something Im looking for. Then I find out that its 10 pages of the same thing.
I think its just time (as good of an excuse as any) for a new system.

I am a programmer but don't have the skills with windows programs to handle this one,It's not that hard to make a program run multiple times the hard part would be making each program lock on to the correct USB port/MJ device.

The programmer for Dan B. could fix up one program that could run 4 jacks at once if they wanted to.

One of the underlying limitations, which happens to be out of MJ's control, is that the MJ softphone is a cusomized version of SJPhone. While SJPhone is a wonderful product, its core module relies on there being only one instance of itself on the system. Sure, MJ could throw enough money at SJPhone to address this limitation, but that would be a lot of money spent to satisfy a tiny portion of their customer base. I would rather enjoy my $20/year service than pay for that extra feature, but that's just me.

I hear ya. Thanks for the input. Im going through some major billing issues with vonage right now. So, Im looking at some different routes.
Theyre doubleing my billing and wont discuss the matter with me. The only thing they will do is send me a bill. Then when I greak down my agreed billing and send it back to them. Theyre asking me to pay the bill and we'll discuss it later.
We'll one of my issues has to do with the very first bill I got from them. I wasnt suppose to get one. They found the error (after my whining) and were supposed to credit my cc back and never did. So, you think Im gonna pay them and sort it out later?
Now were at crunch time. Theyre going to disco it on the 12th. I told them pretty bluntly, If they disco my service without even talking to me about my billing. They can go ahead and do it. I'll sacrifice the numbers I had transferred to them and just never pay them.
