Connecting magicJack to the Central Home Phone Line?

Post by yechi7 »

This has probably been discussed before, so please forgive me.

Instead of hooking up a phone to the magicJack, could I connect a phone cord from the magicJack to the phone jack in the wall, so that all the jacks in the house will be hooked into the magicJack?

Yes, this has been posted many times before.

Yes, you can do it.

Yes, you MUST disconnect the incoming phone line at the box.

I don't use any filters.

You may have issues if you have too many phones that try to draw more power than the MJ can support. It's best to go with cordless phones that have their own power supply that why the MJ is not having to drive the ringer, like it would with a standard phone.

It is not difficult to Search. A quick Search for "house wiring" turned up this thread, and several more good discussions.
