Google Voice
How will (might) the new upcoming Google Voice impact MJ and will it be better?
Are you referrin to something like this writeup? http://www.bangkokpost.com/breakingnews ... into-email
From the description, Google voice turns voicemail into email through voice recognition-to-text. That takes care of incoming calls. For outgoing, you'll need an outgoing service, like MJ, Skype, or your good ol' telephone.

I recommend you just Google "Google Voice". That will give you a much better explanation that I can give.tony wrote:Are you referrin to something like this writeup? http://www.bangkokpost.com/breakingnews ... into-email

It sounds pretty good. Unfortunately for me, on outgoing calls, the service will only call US numbers not Canadian numbers like MJ.
Are you in a position to test drive Google Voice and give us a review compared to MJ?

The only ones who may be able to at this point are those who have GoogleCentral. However, Google Voice is expected to be available to everyone within a "few weeks". I have signed up for it.tony wrote:found this https://www.google.com/voice/about

Google Voice is a re-branded Grand Central. It is more or less the same functionality. They now allow you to disable the "press 1 to accept" option but it will lead to other problems if you have more than 1 phone that it will ring. The new interface seems to be OK More like gmail. Other than that it seems to be the same as before. Also they removed custom ring shares so anyone calling you will simply hear the generic US ringing sound on their phone No big deal. Trans-codes voice mail is a neat feature and somewhat helpful. I get the email with its attempt to tell me what is said in the voice mail which I can make out for the most part. But there are plenty of mistakes that it does make. I have been telling friends anf family members to speak slowly and clearly on my messages and it seems to help. Good luck getting in when they finally open up the doors!
