Magic Jack & Lasershield Security System

Post by rowdyonegh »

Hello Everyone,

I have just recently switched over to a magicjack to test out a few months before cancelling my 29.95 a month digital phone service from the cable company. I did a search for Lasershield on this forum and didn't find anything, so please don't spam me.

First, my Lasershield works perfectly with Time Warner Digital Phone service, no problems at all.

It will not work with the magicjack. If I plug the lasershield system into the magic jack, I can hear it clicking to try and make an outbound call, but it fails and just keeps re-trying. I'm not sure why, I read the box is only trying to call a 800 number to notifiy for an alarm. If I plug a phone into the lasershield that is plugged into the magic jack, the phone works fine too - no problems.

I have purchased a lasershield "sparrow" device that is supppose to allow you to use lasershield with VOIP, but all this looks like is a little box that allows you to plug in the lasershield shield device and then run ethernet to your router. - this allows gives me the same problem as hooking straight into the magic jack.

I was just wondering if anyone had been successful with lasershield or another security system that uses magic jack to call out?

Thanks,
Glenn

Time-Warner digital phone is NOT VOIP so I would expect everything to work with it. What I have found with MJ (by trying to get fax working) is that the phone dialer is too fast for MJ and the end result is that when the fax program dials, MJ loses digits. This might be your problem. Do you have a way to slow down or insert delays into your dialer?
