I work for a software development company that produces an IP-based PBX system. I'm currently a network engineer managing a world-wide Cisco-based network. Prior to moving to IT, I was responsible for validating third-party SIP endpoints for us with our system. So I have experience with SIP end points from Cisco, Audiocodes, Adtran, Intel, Linksys, Aastra, Polycome, etc.
The whole MJ setup intrigued with enough to buy one. Prior to that I've had a SIP trunk from Junction Networks that I've terminated into everything from an Asterisk box, to a copy of our PBX software running in my home and most recently an ATA186.
After setting up my MJ and playing around with it, the first major issue that I noticed was that when I hang up on the cordless phone the MJ hardware interprets that as a flash-hook and places the remote caller on hold. Assuming they hang up as well at the end of a call, I guess this isn't a problem, just sloppy.
I've tried two different cordless phones, and I've STF'd here, especially the cordless phone compatibility thread.
Has anyone else seen this issue? One of the phones I tried would do nothing when I hung up, but when I picked the call back up, that would be detected as a flash-hook and the call would go on hold, but when I hung up the call would come off hook.
Seem like MJ is great as a softphone, but the integration to an analog phone leaves alot to be desired.
I spent 2+ hours OTP with their tech support and never wanted to kill myself as much as when I have up with them and hung up. Not after they finally gave me the RMA URL, but still I'd like to make this thing work.
I've looked a the hack sites and have several SIP endpoints I can try with MJ, but I'd prefer to use the hardware I purchased, since its so portable.
