CANNOT GET MJ # to forward to landline

Post by redloxandstox »

I have been in chat with MJ for many, many hours. I ONLY want the MJ # to forward my MJ calls to my landline #...because of business card listing.

I know I have set-up the call fwd. feature successfully...but callers to the MJ # get voice mail and then a hang-up. I want the calls forwarded without using MJ for any outgoing or incoming calls. JUST want to use the # to fwd. without keeping MJ dongle inserted or PC on.

I think the problem is on their end....but thay have put me thru at least 10 hours of chat and still have not solved the problem. They even told me to plug in headphones((( I refused,,,can't see the reason for this...don't want to use softphone as I told them)

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

No Can Do

Post by oldtimercurt »

I don't think it's possible to do unless you pull your credentials and use an ATA or run MJ as a service on a computer. As I understand it, your MJ number is useless unless it's on-line. Other, smarter folks here can probably give you a better answer.

Not True. Call forwarding is done through the central office and doesn't require the Magicjack to be connected. I use this feature daily.

You need to specify a 10 digit Call Forward number (xxx-xxx-xxxx) (area code + 7 digits). Don't prefix the Area Code with a "1".

I too use call forwarding - I have my MJ number forwarded to my home land-line via the my.magicjack.com web site. Login, click the forward check box and enter a phone number. It even rings down to the MJ-attached phone if the forward number is busy.

Of course the problem is on their end - you have nothing at your end to control call forwarding other than access to my.magicjack.com. Have you tried other numbers? Try getting tech support to fix this by explaining your problem very clearly (e.g., I log into my.magicjack.com and have entered a forwarding number but....) and see what they can do. I once had a problem where I couldn't make any calls. They had me jump thru the usual hoops (e.g., pull out the MJ, put in the MJ, reboot, try another computer) and finally the next thing on their script was to reset (or as they called it "refresh") my account. Wham - everything started working again.

rThought there wa no need to plug in the dongle to get this done. I really dont want to use MJ for anything other than call forward...I need the area code of MJ # for business...all I want is the call foward....dont need to call out with mj # or receive calls from MG #. My landline A/C is 1 mile from MJ # a/c...but customers use a/c of # they live in.'irst.

Do you think using another PC around here could do it. I have several PC's. I'm too frustrated to go to their horrible script chat again. Really want to keep their software to the barest minimum on my PC.'s

Perhaps using a PC @ the library will do it...what do you think.

All was OK for about a year...then they replaced the dongle Original one emptied itself out one day (o bytes) for no reason. 12 hrs of chat got me a replacement. I live 30 miles fron Dan's home...have thought of sending certified snail mail or a small claims court summmons.

Thanks for hanging in there with me!!!
