QoS guidance

Hi All,

I am trying to reduce jitter and packet loss with the aim to improve voice quality while maintaining through-put on the network.

mJ is on a TC with a direct line to the router. When QoS is disabled, I have speed.

When QoS is Enabled (auto) w/Device Priority set to high w/TC's MAC, I down to a third of my speed on the entire network. Jitter at 39ms, Packet loss >30% MOS is 2.3

When QoS is Enabled (manual - 80kbps) w/Device Priority set to high w/TC's MAC, Speed down is 4300. Jitter at 26ms, P/Loss 9% MOS is 3.3

When QoS is Enabled (manual - 160kbps) w/Device Priority set to high w/TC's MAC, Speed is 5020. Jitter at 3.7ms, P/Loss 0% MOS is 4.0 BUT line quality still breaking up on talk & listen.

I have done a couple of searches on QoS settings but only found a post suggesting an Upstream Bdwth value around 75kbps.

Since I have the TC on its own port, should I abandon Device Priority and use Port Priority? Or do I have to declare values in each of the three Priority sections (Device, Port and Application)

Continuing in research & efforts to reduce jitter and packet loss with the aim to improve voice quality while maintaining through-put on the network.

After some trial and error, the following seems to yield the best results for my DSL connection.

Since DSL, MTU is set to 1472
13 hops to the local proxy

QoS Enabled (manual - 200kbps)
Device Priority set to high w/TC's MAC,
Ethernet Port Priority set to High,
Speed coming down is 5046. Jitter at 2.3ms, P/Loss 0.0% MOS is 4.1
