Anyone who doesn't use User Agent on ATA or IP Phone?

Post by ydnim »

I am not sure if I should use my IP Phone because it does not have a User Agent Field. Should I continue using this IP Phone without the User Agent configured or should I just get another one that has User Agent?

Does magicjack really cancel subscription if we use ATA or IP Phones for magicjack?

Please let me know..
Thanks!

While I have not heard of anyone being shut off for sending an incorrect User Agent string yet, it certainly is an easy way for MJ to confirm you are using their service with a device which is not approved, and that is most probably a violation of their terms of service.

Personally I would not use the MJ with any other device or softphone that doesn't allow spoofing the User Agent, but that's just how I roll. ;)

Been running with Innomedia/Sunrocket/Vonics ATA since 11/08 with no problems (and no user agent) and only a few outages (no VOIP light) in the morning and that one time around the holidays when we had to put new SIP Passwords in.
