MJ doesn't recognize Google Voice verification code

Post by bclark1000 »

I have a google voice number. I would like to forward it to my MJ number at times. However, you have to verify each number via the Google Voice web site. The GV website calls my MJ number and I am supposed to punch in a 2 digit verification code. When GV makes the call and I answer through MJ and punch in the numbers, GV does not recognize them and subsequently will not accept MJ as a forwarding number. I have been able to verify a VoIP line I use at work, so it's not a VoIP issue. Anyone else have this problem?

Try using the MJ softphone on the screen instead of your handheld phone to send the 2 digit verification code.

I am able to verify my MJ (it accepts the code, using the SP dial pad, and says the number is verified), but GV doesn't forward calls to MJ (it just goes to GV VM)

Sorry for you. Sounds like you need to check the GV forum.

Works fine for me. Check whether you have your MJ number checked as one of your forwarding phones. If yes, then check the advanced settings for the phone you are calling from. it could be set to ring only 1 or no specific phones, ie, straight to voicemail. lastly, check your call forwarding settings on the mj website to make sure you aren't forwarding to gv number.

I had to change the phone type in Google Voice from "Gizmo" to home, work, or other. The "Gizmo" option is reserved for a specific service/ATA.

Actually, I haven't used GV much, but I wanted to respond to the OP's request for feedback from similiar users, and I continue to be curious about how all these devices and technologies interact to create new possibilities to communicate and save money.

Is this touch-tone issue with any land-line phone and MJ? Will you need to use the software to punch numbers for any service?

It wasn't working for me either one day, but the day after it worked. I used my phone's dial pad.
