What a rip off for nothing!

Post by JRSWIFEY6264 »

I bought the magicjack 3 months ago, with problems out of the box. Choppy no matter what i do to it, a very long delay in response from my end and whoever i am calling, if it sits to long without a phone call made you mine as well forget answering the call when it does ring it will cut off anyway.

I will NEVER recommend this product to anyone I come in contact with (as I made that mistake already). I guess $42.65 goes along way when your scamming folks for a year  . They make this product seem like its a true money saver, sure it saves you money but you will pay for it in trying to figure out what phone you need to buy and having a brand new computer to make this piece of crap work.

And customer service is a JOKE! don't waste your time with them its a robot anyway answering their calls.

Thanks Magiccrap for bringing your junk in the world for people to buy "your crap" :x

Set it on your curb and post it as a free item on Craigslist. Someone will be able to use it and you'll get all warm and fuzzy inside.

I'm sure a number of people here might take it off your hands for the right price.

Choppy operation is normally due to your computer or ISP connection,MJ didn't work for me till I built a machine just to run it.

Later I found power saver setting on my Dell laptop for the USB ports and got MJ to work on it as well. :)

ISP= Internet Service Provider

If your ISP sucks so will your MJ.

Dial up won't work,Satellite won't work,ADSL won't work,etc.

Recommend cable 5MB or higher.fiber optic etc..

Do a VoIP speed test and see where the problem is.

Google and this site can provide the tools to figure out where the weak link is.

Your main upload and download numbers look excellent but the QOS numbers look bad especially the QOS up number of 1%.

Mabe someone else can tell you what needs changing with your clear wire ISP service.

also something up with the bounce between 7ms and 364ms delay time.

Hey, I take issue with the ADSL claim. :? Mine works just dandy with MJ. I am on 3MB link and have no issues. My line is clean though. Ping times average 27ms.

It depends on the computer u r using.. My magic jack works flawlessly on my old 800mhz dell gx 150 has only 256 mb of ram. But my mj will not run at all on my Toshiba 1.6mhz with 1 ghz ram laptop... I beleive its the configuration that makes the different.. Magic jack does work as long as your computer is setup right unfortunatley there is little to guide you in paperwork to get it working... I love my MJ. Also, don't expect 400 dollars out of a 40 dollar device.. get what you pay for but if you are successful in getting it working you will get alot more out than what you pay for

If you really want to complain about Magic Jack, here is how:

http://www.seflorida.bbb.org/ComplaintD ... D=92003333

That is their actual physical address, name of the person in charge, and the Better Business form to fill out an official complaint against them.

I have no complaints. Magic Jack works as advertised for me.

It seems that some users are trying to use MJ with another VOIP and expecting perfection.

I think this may be akin to using 2 anti virus programs.

I am no expert , but that is the way I see it. No one I know has had any trouble with their Magic Jack at this time.

I looked up "clearwire". Is your service this one? http://www.clearwire.com/wireless-broad ... erview.php where your Internet connection is wireless?

Next step, try a google search of "clearwire internet voip". You find this article http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/voip/article.php/3494171 which suggests Clearwire actively blocks VOIP. Why? This article may have a clue http://www.fiercebroadbandwireless.com/ ... 2006-04-12. Seems Clearwire offers its own VOIP and doesn't like competition.

Likely Clearwire is the culprit here, not MJ. If you can, visit someone who has a different high speed internet service and plug in your MJ. Bet you the MJ will work there.
