I don't know what the upgrade does but I also got it after rebooting. Thanks for the heads up. Pray that it fixes a bunch of stuff.

Still think I'll hang on awhile before buying more years of service, but nice to see the option is there now when you log in.

OK I've been playing with it to see what might be new.

MagicJack has FIXED the issue of not telling the caller when a voicemail being left gets cut off. It now says "Thank you, Goodbye" to you.

The bad news is they've reduced the time you can leave a voicemail. The first attempt was 1 minute 20 seconds and the second attempt was 1 minute 28 seconds. I wonder why its not consistent. It used to be 2 minutes before the upgrade.

Voicemail still has the wrong timestamp.

Sure would be nice if MagicJack had a blog or status page to let us know what got fixed so we can further help if theres any issues regarding it.

Still down for me..

Post by Tragon »

It's been a few days with the error 400 "Cannot connect to proxy blah blah blah" for me. Been spending a lot of quality time with the ladies on tech chat. lol I can't get a legit answer out of them though. Does anyone know if the server/proxy that I'm connecting to is down? I have a 410 area code and it Should be a Baltimore.. But I loaded Fiddler2 and couldn't find out for sure. I've tried messing around with the hosts file but still no luck.

The reason I'm replying to this forum topic is, what version of MJ do you guys have? When I right click and "open" the USB device then right click/properties the "autorun.exe" file. I have the version#: 1.70.4021.2809. But, when I download and right click the upgrade.exe it shows a version#: 1.73.4153.2910. I've tried upgrading many times, and I'm wondering if there is something blocking it from actually upgrading? Which in turn could be causing me problems..

The service has worked flawlessly for months, then I kept getting the error 400 not connected to the net, double click here, looping registering window bs.. The only way to get it to work was pull the MJ and let it sit for a while, then plug it back into another USB port, or sometimes even the same one. That happened ona nd off for a few days, then for the passed like 3-4, it's been completely down for me.

Help?

Man my old Bellsouth account used to cost about $60.00 a month, then TWC's digital phone which still set me back between 40-50 a month. Now we have Vonage at 24.99 a month....yeah I'd say that was a REALLY GOOD deal...

Anyone recall what used to be under "Advanced Options" in voicemail?

It appears they've removed whatever used to be in there. Your only option now is to hit * to return to the main menu.

This is different than the option to change folders and mailbox options (which has the greetings options and change password option).

Jacksondale,

I think you missed what Kumar was being sarcastic about. It is the same price if you buy one year at a time or three, no advantage to going out on a limb that they will even be around in three years when you are not going to save even a penny. But it is kind of humorous that they would even post it like that.

Kumar was being sarcastic???? When I'm being sarcastic I always add a  face....LOL. Yeah I think I'll reup on January 23, 2009 just to make sure that they're still around.

Still when I think about our old Bellsouth service and paying that much for area plus. without which we payed 5 cents a minute to call California and 33 cents a minute to call 20 miles away....I don't miss them at all. Now If I can find out on the internet how to get rid of DPU THEN I'm in hog heaven!!!

Jacksondale,

Who knows maybe I am just putting words in his mouth and he really meant it the way you understood it. And obviously he is not going to jump in here and set us straight. :?
