Vista sound fix
Delete all your sound devices from device mgr, reboot, and ideally Vista will re-install the required drivers.
Was this originally a Vista or XP box? Maybe Vista is lacking driver support for your sound devices?
Give it a try

The box has been running Vista Business/XP Pro since last April. Prior to that it was just a motherboard in a cardboard box.
All other sound works fine in Vista Business, even the SPDIF (optical).
But I did notice different things are getting installed in XP as opposed to Vista. i.e. XP lists some tigerjet USB stuff, where Vista does not.
Vista lists the USB stuff under Portable Device in system manager.
Removal of the sound devices and letting Vista reinstall had no effect. But it was a good try.
Thanks.
