MagicJack on Macintosh gets 401 error since yesterday!
First my ATA stops working, and now the Mac client has failed me. (The Windows client continues to work however) Anyone else experiencing this?

If it were me, I would use Wireshark to trace what happens when you start the MJ client. Compare it to a trace of a working system.connecting4less wrote:welcome to the club
we are all here trying hard to figure out whats going on
and magicjack didnt work on my mac yesterday but it did on pc
and ATAs are down
When I trace my working MJ, I always see a "401 unauthorized" on the first SIP register. The next one is always successful.
I would wonder if that SIP response code is related to the error displayed on the softphone, and how other startup traffic differs. For example, MJ connects to mls.softjoys.com and prov1 & 2.talk4free.com. If those aren't reachable (resolveable), maybe that's a problem. (But, on my system, it does the first and second registers before communicating with those other hosts.).
I'd start with wireshark and understand the difference between a working and failing system.

Same thing happened to me yesterday. I did contact customer support online and they told me to shut off my MJ by using the advanced users section under the menu tab on the softphone. They then told me to wait 2 minutes. I then was instructed to launch MJ again. The 401 message was now gone and the MJ worked as before. I do not know if they did anything on their end or if this the proper way to shut down and reboot a MJ. You could give it a shot and see what happens.
