Magicjack service/system down for over a week
Does anyone know when, or even IF MJ will be working again...It has been down for more than a week. When I chat with one of their 'techs', they pretend nothing is wrong, and put a user through a drill, but when confronted to tell the truth, they admit the system is down. They claim "for upgrades".
Odd that I cannot find any mention of MJ being out of service on this blog!!
Cheers

Cause it is not out of service. Been some problems since last Tuesday's upgrade, but it has been working. IF you are using an ATA then yes it will not work, at least not right now till someone figures it out. If you are just using a dongle, like I am, then their service is up and running ( annoying beeps and all)
Maybe your upgrade didnt finish correctly, go here and run it and see what happens. http://upgrades.magicjack.com/upgrade/upgrade.exe

MJ Down
Hi bitstopjoe...Thanks for the input. I don't know what ATA is, I'm using DSL /windows xp...every day I run the udate from the home page because the MJ won't even load at bootup. Screen pops saying it has cancelled the "runtime", and on the MJ window, it says "error 9".
Per my original message, when I chat w/MJ online, they first put me thru all kinds of exercises, as if I need to reset/pull it out for 30 secs, etc, etc., run the update, as if these efforts will fix it, which has no result...When press/ask a few times, they finally admit system is down, claiming they are upgrading..... They have been telling me that for 2 weeks.
The proper /honest thing for MJ to do is to put a notice on thier home page..and/or something in the FAQ's, but nada. They keep it a secret.
I got a notice via e mail of a v mail today from magicjack today. However, the message is from the same area code as mine, but that number is not known to me, nor is it in my call list. The message from:
magicJack [[email protected]] says;
VLC can't recognize the input's format:
The format of 'C:\Documents and Settings\Robert\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.Outlook\RHCQB0BS\msg0001.WAV' cannot be detected. Have a look the log for details.
End message.
Perhaps you understand the message..I don't.
Do you know if/when it will actually be working again. I'm in CAL, a friend is in FL...same problems there.
Thanks
R

robertm, you might be having a problem with malware. Have you done a scan lately? The one linked there is pretty decent.
The message about not being able to open the WAV file is a problem with your installation of VLC. Try saving the file from your email to your desktop. Right-click on the file on the desktop and do open with -> windows media player. If that's not there, do choose program, and you should be able to pick windows media player there.

Hi dishem...
I use PC Tools suite, scanned daily and I don't have any malware. I don't recall mentioning/or having any problems with VLC, which I think is great..and i use it almost daily..without issues.
What I cut / pasted is what showed as the contents of the supposed v message from MJ...as when I click on the VLC icon in the e mail from them, that is the content / text I get. I don't think there ever was a real v mail message...
and mj is still down..finally I see others also complaining... one wonders what kind of people MJ guys are, taking money, providing service for a short time..them bye bye...no mention on their home page as to the outage..nada..zip...a pity as the concept is wonderful..ans whoever created the software is great..someone will contact the FCC, if not already done..it could be technical, but pretending nothing is wrong is a fraud on all who paid for the service..
Cheers
