HELP!!! no dialtone

Post by kashford »

ok, this is the second day of this problem. our MJ stopped having a dialtone yesterday. if i pick up the phone there's nothing. if i try to make a call, nothing...it doesn't ring. the MJ display on the computer displays it as a call unanswered. if someone tries to call our MJ number it doesn't ring, but the MJ display on the screen recognizes the number and also classifies it as an unanswered call. i've tried unplugging everything and restarting the computer, the MJ software, everything.

what's going on?!?

Edited to add: under menu, it's set to headset instead of phone, but it won't let me select "telephone"...is there any way i can get around that?!?

If you unplug your MJ from USB and then replug it, that might fix your problem after about 5 minutes.

If this does not work, restart your copmputer and let MJ take all the time it needs to restart itself.

it's in a hub. i unplugged the MJ and restarted the computer and then plugged it back into the same port on the hub and it worked fine. it had reset itself back to "telephone" and it works fine again! :o :)

This is a problem with the audio. I was connected to the PC that has my MagicJack using remote Desktop. I noticed when I did this I was receiving a message about No audio device installed and I got nothing from my phone. Also, the telephone in the softphone audio settings was grayed out. Ultimately I realized it was due to Remote Desktop having sounds configured to "bring to this computer". I changed it to "Leave at remote computer" and the problem went away.

I am not saying this was your problem just using it to reinforce the audio device problems. Your reboot probably solved the audio device problem.
