MJ on iPhone via siPhon no longer working...a fix available?

Post by enwyse »

I used to have MJ working on my iPhone, after whatever changes they made in mid-june, I was no longer able to use my MJ on my iPhone.

Maximum number of stale retries exceeded (PJSIP_EAUTHSTALECOUNT) is the error I got on SiPhon (the iPhone SIP program I am using)

Any workarounds or fixes found for this?

Sorry, (PJSIP_EAUTHSTALECOUNT) on Siphon is the same as "unregistered" on an ATA so MJ's upgrade has affected any SIP device including Iphones and Ipods.

siphon is open source so you could recompile it with the new md5 hash formula and it would work.

Yeah but...

siphon still has no way of retrieving the nonce or callid to generate the new hash.

The only way to use iphone right now is via local proxy.

Im really starting to hate those Sjlabs guys lol.

the client (siphon) generates the callid and the nonce is sent by the server to the client so yes it has both.

I think OP was talking about using strictly iPhone, and not necessarily his
home LAN.

I think perhaps I am missing something.

I dont have an iPhone to test, but I can use the apple SDK and compile
a copy of siphon with the added code if anybody wants.

If you do it I'll test it. Change the user agent and format the callid the same way mj does.

One way could be to download the c version of 'the proxy fix' in this forum, compile and run it from the iphone and then set siphone to localhost:5070

Haven't gotten around to testing siphon out any further, got stuck writing two security applications in one week for work.

(One is a program like Little Snitch except for Windows, the other is like
Peer Guardian but uses a system like ipchains also for Winblows)

But I will def shoot it over when done.

I'm willing to beta test as well. does anyone need any siphone logs? or packet captures?

I just installed Siphon on my iPhone 3GS, followed the directions I found on another MJ site, and it works like a charm.

Post by joefly »

i followed the above instructions on my iphone but still getting error on the dialer message " maximum number of st..."

Can someone still confirm that the MJ still works on the iphone siphon. I just got the magicjack and latest version of siphon and running on original iphone with 0s3.

Can someone recommend a softphone windows app to try it out with MJ credentials?
