stutter

Post by sligg »

Every so often when I make a call, I get a stutter making it impossible to continue the call. If I hnag up and redial, the stutter is gone.

So you have a stutter in the ring tone? That's what I have sometimes...hangup, retry.

shampooguy,

For me the stutter will start with the ringtone and follow right into the voice communications. So when I hear the stutter I hang up and start over. I don't think I have ever had it happen on the second dial attempt.

I sure hope Dan or one of his people is reading these posts from time to time. They need a complaint or suggestion area or their own board or do they? These kinks need to be worked on and gotten rid of. To grow his company the sound has to be as good as the big guys. It can be done and will in time. I think we are all in on the ground floor and part of the testing. Either that or all are calls, names and numbers are being sold to credit card companies. God, I hope not! I have been getting alot more junk email coming in. Coincidence? Anyone else seeing more spam then usual?

Sligg,

Does your router have QoS control in it?

I have a D-Link DIR-655 and was told by their tech support people to use one or the other the one built into the Router or the one built into the OS but not both. They said they can get into a mode where one bucks (hmmm did I spell that correctly) the other.

So I turned off the one in my OS but XP has it also.

Now for the claims; it has only been about 24 hours but so far it has eliminated the stutter, strange noises and a problem that happens occasionally at the very start of a phone call and that is for a second or two the party on the other end will be extremely loud. I noticed this quirk mostly when I call Free 411, but sometime on other calls.

Might be worth a try if you have a router with a QoS engine built in.
