MJ Dialing Causes Wireless To Disconnect

Post by LordOfThyNight »

I been using the MJ for around 2 weeks without much of a problem. I am using a lynksys wireless card and sometimes various connections are stronger then other ones. I upgraded to sp2 no problems then to sp3 recently. I did disable some services in the windows administration area not sure if they caused the MJ to fail on dialing so my first question is what services need to be enabled/started for the MJ to operate smoothly.

Secondly....when I used my phone to dial a friend or my mj voicemail instead of it ringing it would cause my internet connection disconnect immediately then start trying to acquire an IP address. So the network icon to the lower right would have an x in it till I hang up the phone.

I am wondering how to fix this so I can use my phone with MJ. I had no problems the last couple of weeks up until tonight. I can use my microphone and speakers to make calls but using the phone causes failure upon dial up. I get dial tone I just do not hear it dialing or ring.

I assume their is a conflict in ports or a service I may have disabled is causing this. Any help would be appreciated so I can use my phone with MJ.

I have not used a router and never had a need to since my mj has been operating without one. I have firewall turned off and if not the exceptions are programmed into it thanks to tech support.

Any solutions would be appreciated.

If you are using an older cordless phone with a 2.4mhz freq, chances are it is causing your router problems.. Either try a newer cordless or use a corded phone.. You also might be able to tweak your setting on your router..

I am not using a router I just feed off various signals in the area. I never had a problem with this phone working with mj before however since updating my windows and disabling...some services it now doesnt want to dial it just disconnects the internet wireless icon.

Just for shits and giggles I would try a different cordless phone. Did you check to see if the phone you are using is 2.4mhz? You might have been lucky it was not causing you any problems or it is possible the new update MIGHT have changed some setting on how you receive a wireless signal.

Maybe the person that you are stealing internet service from figured out how to block you.

Well to give him the benefit of the doubt there are some free wi-fi spots around all towns. I know a truck driver friend of mine and he always seems to have a connection to the net no matter where in the USA he is driving. Plus it doesnt cost him a dime.

BUT if he is stealing a signal from a neighbor? Then Karma is a bitch....

I asked for help not a lecture where I get my internet from is no matter its the fact of is the MJ going to work or not. I am a disabled father of 3 kids I have to have the phone working in case their is an emergency and I live with an abusive roommate who cut off our internet on purpose so as you can see this is really very important to me right now and I dont appreciate the attitude as the fact of that this problem might arise in many other mj customers eventually. If its a new problem it needs to be resolved and has nothing to do with karma it has to do with the fact that MJ is not working in sp3 or dialing out on wireless. So if someone can actually help me and stick to the topic I would greatly appreciate it. Its ashamed people cant ask for help without being shot down seriously!!!!!

Then UNINSTALL SP3 and see what happens..

I guess you missed the part where I defended you and said to give you the benefit of the doubt huh?

Well I had talked with tech support they had me try the tcp programming but it failed they did say sp3 works fine with mj along with sp2 since they are almost identical. It seems like the ports are conflict as when I dial a number the little icon x's out and then it tries to acquire a network address. I am not sure if it has to do with certain services i have disabled under the admin area of windows or not. I am afraid i misunderstood the above post earlier sorry about that.

Granted, but have YOU tried to uninstall SP3 and see what happens??
I happen to have XP and SP3 and have no problems..
I always tell people what was the last thing they did before they started having PC problems. Then go back and un do it if possible. I make an image of my PC every day ( several times a day in fact) and if I have any problems I can always go back to an earlier image when things were fine. In fact I dont uninstall software anymore as I make an image first and then if I do not like that piece of software I just restore the image I made and it is as if it was never installed.
I take anything MJ tech support says with a grain of salt. I was once having trouble with my voice mail and they suggest I format my MJ, HUH? I told them there were nuts as I can have my PC off or my MJ in a drawer and voicemail would still work.
Yes disabling services can cause problems. I have my system tweaked to have a LOT of services off. Here is a web page that can guide you. Always best to remember which ones you have disabled so if there is a problem you can easily un do them. http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm

Ill check on into it and see what happens thanks. The tech support was no help at all unfortunately everything they asked me to do I already did myself prior to talking with them. I can only hope they improve over time as they find more issues and solutions for them.
