Hello all,
Does anybody have any experience with running MJ on an EBC-3610 thin client?
If so, is there a way or room to place the MJ inside the unit itself?

Your processor speed should be enough (667MHz) and you can put 512Mb Flash / 512Mb Ram in the unit. It won't run other things but you should be able to get it to run a Magic Jack if you can get an XPe image flashed on the unit. Since it is built around the VIA chipset you should be able to download drivers that will work from VIA arena.
I can run a Magic Jack on a Neoware 400MHz unit and it works fine.

If your looking at the MJ configured 3610's listed on ebay, those are mine.
These units were custom manufactured for a defunct company called Pay By Touch, used for biometric fingerprint credit card processing.
These are pretty neat little machines and a real bargain at the price I have them listed.
There's even a second LAN port hidden behind the IO plate, great for adapting this unit to a router or firewall.
I've configured them with a 4GB MicroDrive 1" CF HDD with EWF disabled as writes are not an issue on a HDD. You can then get away with as little as 128MB (original installed memory size) after a few tweaks and disabling some services, but I upgraded them to 256 and they work without a hitch. They will accept up to 512.
These are loaded with a custom built XPe installation and include the COA sticker on the case.
I use two of them myself and they are great machines and a very, very small footprint. I've even OC'd mine to a stable 1Ghz with no overheating issues as the multiplier is unlocked in BIOS and the front and top aluminum part of the case is actually part of the CPU heatsink.
There is a space where the original 40GB laptop drive was housed (removed and destroyed before I purchased them) that may fit the MJ internally, but I haven't tried it personally. You can plug the MJ directly into the USB port on the back without the extension and it does not interfere with anything, and I'm fine with that.

What temperature readings are you getting on your overclocked units?
Factory settings on Mine is showing CPU~50 and HDD~55. Will those temps be expected to climb more? I am using Speedfan 4.39 to get the readings.

Did you check out the HDD space to see if MJ fits inside? I only have one of these units left and it's already packaged and ready to ship so I can't check for you. I wish I could get my hands on some more of them...
I have some other pretty cool TC's on their way I'll be selling shortly, but I don't think I've seen anything quite as compact as these 3610's. I wish I could pick up some more.
I have not checked the temp with any software monitors on my OC'd units, but have not noticed a significant change. A little wormer. Maybe up 5C???
The embedded CF slot for the MicroDrive is sandwiched between the IO board and the motherboard, so that's prolly why it runs a little hotter than the CPU. But it's still well within operating temp spec of 70C. Looks like that massive heatsink is doing a good job on the CPU though.
FYI - As you know, the listing states that EWF is disabled. I did not remove it though, so you have the option of enabling it if you'd like. There is an icon in the system tray that will allow you to control the EWF state.
If you fully understand what EWF does and how and when to use it then I suggest you do so, especially if you use it for any kind of web browsing or checking email.
I disabled it because there's no risk in killing the MicroDrive, unlike a flash DOM. Plus this resolved the number one technical question I would get about why the unit wouldn't save changes after reboot or allow them to install software.
Anyway, continue to enjoy your 3610 and keep me posted on your findings.

The MJ dongle does fit perfectly in there but the temperatures climbed even more. I am anxious as to whether this might damage the MJ dongle.
I am thinking about making an opening in the side panel and installing a small 5V fan to circulate air in the unit. I don't need it to be ultra quiet since it sits in a closet. Otherwise, it's working perfectly.

Sitting in the closet may be why temps are a little higher as well, but they are still well within spec, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Is this at stock speed or did you OC??? My two OC'd units are in my office on a desktop about 6 inches apart from each other and they are warm to the touch, but definately not hot. If I place them right next to each other, the temps rise considerably, but still not too hot. The fan idea would work well and there is even a 4-pin connector for the HDD you could use for 5V fan power. I'm down to my last one of these units listed on ebay. I got some more WYSE units listed today and have some pretty small TermTek's on their way too, just not quite as small or as kewl as these.

I like that it has the CF port right on the motherboard. I saw your listing on ebay and that is a decent price.
These would make a great router with the 2 LAN ports. Monowall or even better, PFSense would work great on one of these.

So I fitted the machine with a 4x4cm laptop fan by cutting out a hole on the top corner of the machine, right over the memory module, and the results were outstanding. Temps dropped from 48C to 38C for the CPU and from 60C to 45C for the harddrive. It's amazing how a little airflow throughout the machine can improve cooling.
BTW, I am running it with factory settings.

I recently picked up one of these (still in the mail), but I did find another source/brand of the EBC-3610 on ebay. These are apparently also rebranded by a company called Norhtech as the MicroServer HP. They are identical on the hardware side, but if you find a pay by touch, it will have the XPe COA, which is nice to have. It will, however most likely have the hard drive removed and may not have a PSU (use any 12v 2.1mm or 2.5mm x 5.5mm DC power supply with an amp rating of 5 or higher to be safe).
I found some "new" norhtech brand on ebay with no OS:
