Garbled audio

Garbled audio
I purchased magicjack two months ago but only recently installed it on my Dell Dimension E521. Inspite of spending hours online with tech chat all efforts to correct the problem have proved fruitless. I have DSL through comcast and have disconected my router but no improvement audio remains garbled.....any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Don't worry, be happy!

This looks too new to be messed with and I would recommend other experienced members here sanctioning this before going ahead. For one thing, if it installs a codec, I would think it would be patching the mj executables which could lead to corruption or inoperability of the softphone.
I'm not saying it doesn't work, but it has never been mentioned and I'd try a powered USB hub first to see if that gets rid of the garbled sounds.

The codec is just a codec. It was not written for mj, nor does it care if mj is running. Apparently, mj likes the codec and loads it. I've had it improve two mj systems so far. Please try it in the safest way you can. This looks too new to be messed with and I would recommend other experienced members here sanctioning this before going ahead. I installed Skype because I couldn't get mj to sound right. Now it does. I even run Zphone with mj overseas, and it works. The top frequencies are cut above 4k by the codec, but that is an easy trade for stability.
All the references to where it came from are in the txt file.
Cheers,
Buzz.

FWIW both mj and Skype work concurrently on the same machine. I had an overseas (inconsistent) video call going on Skype. I muted the microphone, picked up the telephone in the magicJack, and called the same computer overseas. When my friend answered the phone--and I saw him do it via Skype on my magicJack computer--Zphone jumpped in and secured the audio. I had normal video--with file sharing and texting on Skype, and I had a secure voice channel with magicJack. Both computers were running both Skype and magicJack on an overseas call with all the drops and noise that incurred.
It doesn't get much better than that.
