Magicjack reboots my computer
I just got my magicjack in the mail and as soon as I plug it in to my usb port it is rebooting my computer within 30 seconds. I have not been able to install it or anything to this point. Are others or have others had this trouble in the past? Does anyone know what the trouble might be? magicjack tech support told me it might be because i have Nero on my computer, but I highly doubt thats a reason.
Thanks for any help.

Search this site there are a couple of music players that don't play well with MJ and If you have Nero Virtual drive installed I would suggest uninstalling those or at least search it out as a possible problem.

are you plugging the MJ direct to your pc or are you using a usb hub or the usb extension? try direct plug back and front usb ports, you might not have enough power or too much going to the usb port that might cause a short.dot_loop wrote:Totally uninstalled Nero, Still while in the "Downloading" process for magicjack about 30 seconds it it reboots my computer. Any other ideas?

I had the same problem with mine, I just tried a diffrent usb plug and it worked, sometimeswhen I plug in my portable flash drive it makes my usb mouse turn off and I have to reboot my pc and all is well again, some motherboards have more problems with USB ports than others
ps. I have my MJ plugged in to a powered hub because I have a lot of USB devices and my motherboard does not have enough power for all of them,it has enough ports but some devices use more power than others, have you ever seen a USB device with two USB plugs coming out of it? the reason for it is if you need more power you can plug in the second plug for more juice,Good luck.

After spending like 6 hours yesterday talking to tech support about it, and going through every option i think they had I still cant get my magicjack to work. I have uinstalled every program that was used for music or burning. I have run the MJ upgrade - it reboots me half way through it. I have done the MJ repair - reboots me half way through. I cant think of anything else that I could do. I have also tried other USB ports and they didnt work either. Would having a wireless mouse and keyboard effect this when it is plugged into the usb?
At this point im at a loss, I spent like 8 hours yesterday trying to get this thing to work. Does anyone have any ideas? Or is it time to ship it back, or ask for a new one?
Would having a router which my roomate has his computer connected to effect this at all?

Yep it works on my friends computer. I have narrowed it down to a USB problem on my computer and haven't quite figured out how to fix it at this point. I have even bought a USB hub thinking that my USB just wasnt putting out enough power and it still is rebooting my computer. This is the errors that I'm getting from my computer when it shuts me down.
It is giving me the error codes
"Driver_IRQL_Not_Less_or_equal"
also "Stop 0x000000D1 (0x0000008, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xf6c2bof8)"
and finally "usbstor.sys- address f6c2bof8 base at f6c29000, datestamp 41107d6c"

dot_loop: did the usb hub you bought come with a power adapter that plugs into your ac wall outlet?the reason why I ask is that it has to be a powered usb hub not a regular usb hub and updating your bios like gooney stated would also be a good idea,Also what are the specs. on your pc?.
