Inquisitive Question on M.J.

Once U insert M.J. in USB, it shows as a flash-drive.

(1) Should you copy the content of a good M.J. to a canceled M.J., aren't you virtually cloning one to another, without distinction?

(2) What if one clones flash content of a good M.J. to a USB-flash? Will the Flash become another M.J.?

Cute idea, but it won't work. There is a hardware address of each mJ that is not merely set in software. Copying the software and files of the drives really have no bearing on your account and number. That it why you can format a device, and reload it using a "generic" installer, and it still ends up as your number...

Unless you're smart enough to figure out how to change the hardware address, I don't think you'll be cloning actual mJs anytime soon.

Since M.J.'s number is assigned after it is sold and based on your above information, it indicates that the number and all exclusive information is programmed on eprom, a chip. There is no chip that can not be interfaced. It is matter of JTAGing it.

But, the low price of M.J. hinders expenditure of time and resources to hack it, as the hack will require developing a software to interface with M.J.

I strongly suspect that this id already done and in the hands of limited few. Perhaps a brave one will have the brevity to go public. After all hacking a M.J. is child's play compared to hacking satellite technology which is done, over and over.

And of-course, such hack and information will be for educational and intellectual purposes and not to compromise intellectual property rights.
