BAD Memory Leak in Windows7 :(
Let me start out by saying that Magicjack works great with Win7 besides this flaw...
having said that, when i restart Magicjack or first run it, it only takes about 50mb of memory in task manager. if i leave it run for a day or 2 without restarting the computer or restarting the Magicjack software, it will grow up to 600MB + :\
anyone else notice this?????

I have 6 Computers
Toshiba M200
Toshiba M750-S7223
Inspiron 6400
Dell Studio 1735
Dell Studio 1737
Dell XPS 730x
All have Windows 7 Ultimate Retail(Some upgraded from the RC on the 22nd) and some I had installed fresh on others.
ALL have had the Memory leak, since the RC was released, and even the closed Beta for that matter(which I cannot talk about).
I talked with basic support first. Here is how the questions went
From MajicJack Support:
What is the problem with your PC using 700+MB with the Majicvack???
Why should that be an issue
From Me:
What's wrong? Two of my Notebook PC's only have 2GB of Memory.
I guess it takes a rocket scientist to see that if a machine is using 700+MB on a Notebook PC with 2GB of RAM and an OS which needs 1GB for itself, that the application, isn't going to function correctly
This happens on both the 32 bit & 64 bit versions.
I even went as far, as to go out of my way, and contacted Developer Support to see if there was anything I could do as a Programmer, to assist with the Memory leak, when I was told, that it doesn't have one.
LOL I told them the software had the same issue Windows XP's TCP/IP stack had back in 2004
I then sent snapshots of all my PC's to them, to pass along, to all the development team showing each had at least 600MB Memory leaking, while most were above the 700MB+ range. This can happen in 12 hours, let alone 24 or 48!
Hopefully this new Driver, or updated App, which I will have to go get now, will stop this leaking. All it will take is someone exploiting this leak to gain root access in windows 7, unless you have turned the default securty off, and set it to notify ADMIN of everything,

I forgot my Dell Mini 9, which of course it works on, the thing has Win XP Pro SP3 on it.
However, I'll have to upgrade that to Windows 7 Basic, when the first TCP/IP Vulnerability is exposed, now that M$ is no longer patching them.
It was basically my answer to the HP thin client

though wrote:"magicjack not plugged in or update not needed". WTF
Are you running Windows 7 on a Standard account?
I got that message, on one PC and then Ran it as an ADMIN
it works fine, and patches the Mem-leak on Windows 7.
In fact it reduces the footprint down to 20MB from 59MB normal on Win XP & Vista.

FAR from case closed
my memory useage is after running for 4 hours. it will be over 300MB tomorrow unless i restart the app.
my "file version" says 1.80.499.2
would it matter if i have an "older release" magicjack?

Re: FAR from case closed
Yes older contains older "Firmware" Flash the latest Firmware, Which is the Win7 update they say, BUT the KEY here is The old stuff is still in Registry, After the Flash, I re-installed Win7, Works like a Charm !!though wrote:my memory useage is after running for 4 hours. it will be over 300MB tomorrow unless i restart the app.
