Voice drop out

I picked up MJ this past weekend. It's installed into my desktop running XP. I have a 1MB connection. The computer is connected to a router and then to the modem. I'm using a cordless phone that's hooked up to MJ.

When I call home from an outside line to MJ, the first minute sounds perfect. Then I notice that my wife's voice starts dropping out at ever word she says. I can here the first part of the word but not the second. She can here my fine.

Any suggestions on fixing this? Would love to keep MJ but this won't work if it continues.
